monks and trolls

Howdy everyone,

First time posting since registered to board. Been trolling it for a while learning helpfull info. I went thru and finished SoA the first time and part way into ToB. Decided to try a solo char thru SoA so started over as a monk.

Okay here's my question. How in the world does a solo monk take care of trolls. Last time around i used casters and acid/fire arrows. No access to either of those with a monk solo. Even ran and got the flame tongue sword but that doesn't seem to work after a troll down. Only thing i've found that works is fireball wand for me but that using up charges fast. And very expensive at this point to recharge. That and sometimes hard to get it off in time when get more then one troll without nailing myself =p So i'm hoping someone with a bit more knowledge or experience in game might be able to throw me a better way.

the only way that I know of is to buy a weapon from one of the bonus merchants--at least i think you need them to get it.. (you can get the tweak at Baldurdash) that will allow your monk to deal acid damage.

I believe it is a monk-only weapon

I encountered this very same problem, and so I just trailed along Nalia. Im not too sure if monks can use clubs, but if they can, go and do the Trademeet quests then buy Blackblood+3 off of one of the merchants. Problem solved (if it is a monk eligible weapon!)

Thanks the acid club from trademeet worked. I tried the flame tongue but just kept getting immune message once troll down and it would eventually get back up.

Or you could just use the quite powerful Scarlet Ninja-to. The fact that you won't be using it the entire game kind of indicates how powerful monks are, my fighter / thief who has just finished SoA is still using it.

It's quite easy, I am soling a monk at the moment, and trolls are bloody easy:

Darts of Wounding/Biting (?) They deliver poison damage, and trolls die from that.
