Just wondering how you guys get your chars up to lvl 20 and beyond. I've done all possible quests I can think of, and wiped all areas clean of evil, but my party of 6 seem to be too fond of lvl 12-14 that they refuse to want to gain any more lvls. So I guess the question is: how do you get a ton of exp? Got any quest recommendations? Decent fighting areas? If it makes a difference, I always use a party of 6 which spreads the exp quite thinly.

Best advice. Continue playing the game. There is a storyline. Follow the story related quests and you'll get plenty of exp.

Overall, if you use a party of 6 the levels won't come quick. If you even use lots of MC characters, be prepared to stay at low level for a looooong time. Play a solo sorcerer on the other hand and you'll wonder what it was like back in the early 10+levels

If you are a low level and surpass 2 levels at once do you level off twice?
IE: You are level 9 at 100,000XP, you need 25,000 to go to level 10 and another 50,000XP to go to level 11, If I do a quest that gives 80,000XP will I get to level twice? Or if I forgot to level up.

If level drained does XP earned while drained count towards your experience?

Thanks.

I think you do level up twice, yes. On your second question: I believe that your level gets drained, but XP not, but I'm rather hazy on that one..

you do not lvl up twice as in: lvl up, distribute points, lvl up again.
Instead you get all the benefits of both levels in one single level up.
If you cheat in a lot of XP to surpass 10lvls at once you will still only have one big lvl up.

My advice would be, do everything..every quest, sub quest etc. and then keep playing

Are your characters mostly multiclass? If so, levels 12-14 are about where you max out with XP cap for SOA (Shadows of Amn), which is 2.95M XP per character. Single class characters (or dual-class characters that don't have much XP in their first class, like Imoen and Anomen) peak out between 17th and 23rd lvl or so. Minsc, for example, is a Ranger and will reach 17th level at the XP cap. Multiclass characters will generally wind up in the 12-14 range you described for each class... Jaheira, for example, is a Fighter/Druid that will reach level 13/13 at the XP cap.

The game expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, raises the XP cap to 8M XP per character, in addition to providing a continued plot, many new areas to explore, items to find, baddies to fight, and many new powerful abilities for high-level characters. There are also various XP cap remover mods out there if all you want to do is reach higher levels in the game you already have... the FAQ section of this forum links to several. But to get access to the new areas, items, high-level abilities, etc, you need the expansion.
