I start my new game and everything is running smoothly up until (If you haven't even started playing this game don't read any further.)

Attaqh (you know the Djinn in the crystal cavern at the beginning of the game) summons a monster. In mid-summon the game locks up and takes me back to desktop all the while deciding it no longer wants to cooperate. I have Windows XP (yes I do know the general opinion of XP, but that's what I have so get over it) I have the most recent patch for the game ( minus the 3rd party mods), and an ATI Radeon 9000 vid card, etc. etc. etc. for detailed details about my pc (if you think it will help you help me) email me.

Corrupt .bif file, prbably the one with the spell animations in it. Easiest solve is to reinstall the game.

Have you tried loading the auto-save and trying again? Even if the game is patched (official and Baldurdash), it'll still get moody, usually mid-battle or with six people casting spells or something. Reloading takes care of the problem most of the time.

Pirengle the issue only occurs with Attaqh's summon. If it were as simple as the solution you just mentioned, then the problem shouldn't even exist. besides this is the beginning of the game the only spell casting that occurs is healing, what Irenicus does in the opening sequence and Attaqh. Attaqh's summon spell proving to be the only problem. I must therefore assume that you attempted to extrapolate my problem by reading Andrewas' response, and due to self-misinformation gave a potentially pointless response.

I had troubles myself with Windows XP with games, which is the soul reason why I have my computer so I just use Windows ME. It doesn't matter I don't think if you have all the up-to-date patches, you need a patch for XP so it allows you to play your variety of games. I don't know where it is, but I know you can download it somewhere off the net.

Dude! calm down! there is no need to get all mad at someone because they didnt fix your problem. And Pirengle could be right, if you have a mage in your party you can be casting spells when tht hapens, and since you didnt give us that information, we had to guess. just chill out.

I feel sorry for you Xero. You seem to feel that higher level vocabulary is to be associated with anger. Indeed I pity you. Next time you feel the need to tell me something like that PM it to me. I check my profile for those on a regular basis. Do not waste forum space with responses that are not germane.

Gangrell the update of which you are speaking is the first one they made for XP. I am currently working with a bare-bones XP OS. That may indeed be my issue. But until I have net access with the PC in question there is little I can do to affect my situation. In total I am a little more than 59 updates behind the rest of the XP world. 27 of which are optional to the overall functionality of the system.

(P.S. I was always under the impression that XP was better than ME by far. Though it is also rumored that 98 surpasses both systems.)

And putting responses like this and those to pirengle saying you didnt help me arent a waste of space? Wow, i think you need to be on TV, because if you can tell me how i feel that easily you need to share ur gift. youve been here long enough to know there is no need to tell everyone when they make a mistake and dont fix your problem they were trying to help you with. If you want to go out and say you have to feel sorry for me, then go ahead if it makes you feel better about yourself. keep arguing if you want, im out of this conversation. dont wanna get banned cuz you feel the need to tell people when they are wrong. maybe its a self esteem issue?

Well fire, not a lot of people know that much about computers, I myself am trying to learn more so I just threw that suggestion out as a for instance. Plus, I don't think they came out with the game patch for XP until about a year after it was made, but I still stay with my opinion that ME is better than XP.

Oh yea, on a side note, there's no such thing as wasting forum space. People come in here to help others, share their opinions and talk about certain things, that's why Ziroc made these forums and I doubt anyone's response here is a "waste" of forum space. People that have higher level vocabularies are usually quite smart so indeed please quit with the attitude.

Besides, I rather enjoy my posting war with Xero

My last statement in this thread. (Mostly because I HAVE indeed had an attitude issue this evening)
Don't you people read? If you want to correct, rebuke, or scold me, kindly do so through the handy PM system we have.

P.S. Sorry for the attitude I've been stressed recently, thought that isn't really much of an excuse, and I've yet again been allowing it to influence what I write/type.

PP.S. I really gotta learn how to play with the smiley's. At least then people will more easily be able to tell when I am only kidding.
