Well, I'm installing BGII on my new computer and I had a few questions. I've played the game through TOB about 2 times already and I was wanting to change it up a little. My question is: Which item upgrade mod should I download. Also, I'm considering downloading The Darkest Day mod and I was wondering if it was any good. And finally, which mods aren't compatible with the Imoen romance?

And there are more Item Upgrade mods? I know only of Weimer's one.

Opinions are divided. Darkest Day brings a lot more into the game: quests, NPCs, kits, areas, items, spells... On the other hand, it is buggy (they're patching it to no avail), most kits are unplayable, it is buggy, some items and spells are highly overpowered, quests are buggy, some things are either dumb or not at the level of quality as the original game. And have I mentioned that it's buggy?

I have version 1.008 and the ReadMe says that Imoen romance is compatible with most mods, but the conflict is possible with dream shortcuts.
Nalia's Romance is compatible, just install THIS mod AFTER the aforementioned.
Since this mod partially replaces the second level of Irenicus dungeon, some of Weimer's Improved Ilyich mod (part of the Tactics) isn't fully functional.

Here we go again :

1 - WeiDU Imp. Items Mod, thats the only one I know.. and it is great! Install it right away!

2 - TDD? Erm... BUGGED, it adds alot of stuff.. and some of the kits are real nice (naming Duergar Warrior, Drow Warrior Ect. Ect.) Overpowerd items, lotsa trolls... (millions of them... real messy). It is really bugged but it is nice to play it without any other mods installed (conflicts & conflicts).

3 - Imoen Romance?, I have only one word Incest.. iehwl .

pretty much everything Vedran said.. in a summarized version though .

Well technically its not really incest... oh never mind

Hey thanks for the link, I downloaded the items mod and I can't wait to make some new items. The old ones were getting B-O-R-I-N-G.

Buggy eh? I'm not too sure that I want to play a game with a lot of bugs in it.
Bugs really piss me off because its almost like you feel helpless or something. Oh well.

While not an item upgrade, and while the look and feel of the game remain the same, I highly recommend the Tactics Mod available at Weimer's Site. Most of the combats seem superficially the same, often with the same players, but you may be pleasantly surprised with the difference in the abilities and tactics of some of the critters. And there are some cool, new add-ons that make it a tougher game, and some nice items, not necessarily excessively powerful, but merely having them in your inventory gives you kind of bragging rights.

Just be aware that you may not be able to play the game the same way you did before. You may find that some quests are better off left for later in the game.

Note: There are a couple pieces I didn't like, but it is a piece of cake to leave those two out, and install all the rest.
