Fallen Cavalier (maybe a spolier?)

I don't think this is a spoiler post, but then again, it does include details on how to get a particular character to join your party. I suppose there are bound to be some people who don't know that for all characters, right?

So, here goes.

While saving Viconia from execution by the anti-Drow fanatics.....

(back to normal [img]smile.gif[/img] .) ....... I accidently fried a passerby, bog standard commoner, with a lighning bolt that bounced too far off a wall. When the dust settled, my reputation was at 4, and my character had changed from a 'cavalier', to a 'fallen cavalier'. Is this because Viconia is a party member (evil drow and all that), or because that stupid commoner was in the way?

Yes it is. A paladin is a good caracter and when you make 1 mistake with you rep. you are not worthy 2 be a paladin anymore so...

I think you should start over again couz the abilities you have are gone( i think)

It's an effect of your reputation.

In order to uphold your paladin status you must never let your reputation sink below 5.

Frying commoners is pretty bad for your reputation.

Saving Viconia does not carry a reputation penalty, but allowing her in your party does (a -2 penalty).

You shouldn't use spells such as Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Cloudkill and such in city combat as the chance of collateral damage is far too high. Use nice clean single-target spells like Magic Missile, Acid Arrow, Flame Arrow and Flamestrike instead.

so you lose your abilities and everything if you are fallen. Because right now in BG 1 I am a fallen Ranger does it have any terrible penalities?

- cannot cast spells
- cannot Stealth
- cannot Charm Animal
and you still Level Up just as slowly as you did before.

it's not just rep. Just killing a commoner will cause a paladin to fall, no matter what his rep is.

Oh, you seem real worried about Viconia and your paladin getting along. Trust me it's now big deal(in real add it would be). I have a romance going between viccy and a cavalier

The j's are not pronounced and the a is a large a, not a flat a. It is part of the name of a character I once dreamt up: His full name was Dominique Indemaijinj of the Open Head Wound. He had suffered a massive blow to his head that had cracked his skull in two. He had a transparant crystal set in his forehead to seal the wound and sometimes you could see his brain glowing ominously behind it. As you can probably imagine, he was wee bit off the hook at times.
His sidekick Exincreein (Full name: Exincreein d'd'd' Kh'jah (d' is pronounced by clicking you tongue/mandible/whatever) had and is constantly undergoing som many physical alterations that it's gender and species is in a constant state of flux.

Sorry for this narcissistic way [img]graemlins/offtopic.gif[/img] excursion. Let's resume to the original topic.

LOL, you are inovative fellow indeed - Planescape style! (and the name is surely not stolen )

BTW, I am studying only German, so I can't tell how different Danish or any other germanic language is.
