how can irenicus cast spells sooooooooo damn fast???
are there any items that will make you cast spells faster (SoA)

Gandalf, say hello to ForceSpell() and ReallyForceSpell() - two script command which seem to represent BioWare's policy when it comes to the enemies' AI.

The only items which decrese your casting time are the Robe of Vecna (-4), Amulet of Power (-1) and the Drow Elven Chain (-1).

, indeed elven chainmail does not grand a faster spell abilitie. But drow chainmail does (read above abilitie list)

The .bcs script action ReallyForceSpell allows an NPC, such as Irenicus, to cast any spell, regardless of memorization, both immediately and uninterrupted.

Other scripting actions allow various "cheats" as well.

The improved Irenicus scrip, for example, will, at the beginning of the battle, immediately equip Irenicus with the Robe of Vecna, the Amulet of Power, Stoneskin, some armour, potions of superior healing, and two wands of spell striking.

Then certain global timers are set, depending on certain conditions, and Irenicus will ReallyForceSpell, Protection from Energy, Simalucrum, Improved Invisibility, Improved Haste, Spell Sequencer, Chain Contingency, Protection from Magical Weapons, Greater Malison, Immunity Abjuration, Immunity Divination, Chain Lightning, Vocalize, Melf's Acid Arrow, Project Image, Time Stop, Spell Turning, Fire Shield, True Sight, Death Spell, Power Word Kill, Abi Dalzhim's, Maze, Mordie's Swords, Skull Trap, amongst others.

Irenicus is scripted to be under constant effect of improved alacrity as well.

And, I believe, is scripted to teleport across the room and ReallyForceSpell Cure Critical Wounds if severely wounded.
