is there anyway to play wav files other than installing a program that interplay has banned?

NO - interplay dissaprove of people using their own WAVC format. Which is stupid really, cos all it is is a bog standard .wav file with a new header and run through the standard zlib compression routine - in fact its questionable if theres enough new about the format for them to claim it.
But regardless of that, teambg wont host or link to utils to use bioware audio/video formats. There is wavc.exe which is out there somewhere but its hard to find and lead me a merry chase a few months back - Id offer to email it, but my hard drive crashed and I lost it. I found it on a russian site last time.
