Rangers get a longsword bonus?

Well, I borrowed out both my game and my little manual for for a short time, and soon (two or three days) I'll be starting that multiplayer game I spoke of many months ago. I'm debating wether or not to be a ranger or continue my paladin... but since I don't have my manual or game, I don't really know the stats and advantages or disadvantages. So, any help would be nice... maybe a site where they have this stuff listed?
