Everything old is new again...not that I find any fault with that, mind you.
You know what? Even after all these years I have never played Planescape: Torment.

It's not actually a direct sequel to Torment, but rather a spiritual and thematic successor in a new setting. How so? They can't use the Planescape setting itself.
Still, you have the original creators of the Planescape setting, a writer and concept artist from Torment, Chris Avellone's blessing and, of course, Brian Fargo who headed up Interplay at the time. It's an exciting project and fascinating prospect for fans of the original game. ![]() A couple more links: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...orment-sequel/ And a link to the website of the actual new setting: http://www.numenera.com/

Very very very very excited about this. I think I'll even start a play-by-post game in Numenera once the rulebook is out. Hopefully the wait won't be too long.

The actual title for the game is going to be Torment: Tides of Numenera. As a wonderful piece of extra information, composer of the original Fallout soundtracks as well as the one for Torment, Mark Morgan, will be making the music for the new game.

Still one of my favorite games of all time! (though, that can be said for many IE games..) Very excited, and I hope it will keep to the spirit of Planescape: Torment. That game was MASSIVE dialogue wise, I'm sure with the pressure towards fully voice-acted games, they can't stretch quite that far..but here's hoping!

Oh I so loved Planescape Torment! The only game I actually shed a tear at watching the end movie. Definitely a lot of reading involved, was kind of like reading a book. I found it tedious at first but later, once I got interested in the story, I read everything anyone said, looking for clues (even from the bar drunks LOL). The characters were also wonderfully interesting. I will be the first one to get this once it comes out!

Kickstarter starts tomorrow ... I can't throw money at this game fast enough.
And LadyZ, you'll have to race me to get this game first!

Look... FR is FR. If the new game can't use characters OR the FR planes setting, then how is it a Torment sequel??? PS:T was essentially a puzzle game with some, not very difficult, combat. But if you're not going to continue the storyline with the Nameless One, or one of his entourage, OR use the Sigil setting... then what the hell is it??? A "spiritual successor"? Please... that just means they want to use the PS:T style without paying for the venue.
Be careful of "spiritual successors" if you ask me.

It's live! ElfBane - I won't bother explaining my excitement as the descriptions on that kickstarter page do a better job of putting it into words than I can. I encourage you to read through before dismissing the game.
