Default Anyone ever figure out that pesky MFC thing?

I was wondering ig there was anyone who has gotten DC to work in linux. I have a new ASUS 10.5 inch laptop that has linux (and I know Nothing about linux... yet).

This is by far the easiest computer to lose ever... it weighs like 1 pound and is 8x10 inches by 2 inches tall (folded shut).

Oh, and if I have mistakes in spelling its becuz the keys are small for my hand

ps, I'

I've been able to run DC in Linux for a while - you have to use WINE. It turns out the trick wasn't changing DC, it was waiting for WINE to address the issues.

As for the question in your message title, since Paul and I can manipulate MFCs, we have no reason to deal with them right now. I haven't heard anything about this from anyone else since you last talked about it.

Other than the occasional update by me, or a conversation between Paul and I spilling over into the forums (often when someone asks a specific question) there has been no talk on the coding side of DC. I guess the people that were interested in this have mostly moved on (though I see LurchBrick in here every once in a while, he is not an active developer anymore, though we would love to have him back in the fold).

Yeah I pop in now and again to see what's happening in the DC world.

I'd like to make a come back someday, unfortunately that day isn't today. That said, I'm looking forward to the next release as it sounds better each time I hear about it.

I wondered if I could get you to say something. Nice to hear from you, LB, even if it is only popping in.

The next release is better each time you read about it. Paul and I have done a lot of work. We've got more to do, but it's coming along.

So wine can now handle the MFCs? I remember a while back that there was some discussion on being able to use the player/launcher but not the editor. I guess this has been resolved.

I realized recently that my last "official" visit online before losing the connection was like July 15th, so I could see how some things would change in that time

ps, I haven't gone over to the wine website yet other than to bookmark it, as I'm still looking for better employment (sigh)

I've been using DC in WINE for 6 months maybe?

DC has "worked" in WINE for a long time, but the editor did not display properly.

I suggest you search the forum here and find the most recent thread about this, as I had some tips and such for how I got it to work.

There is one caveat, and depending on your level of Linux competence it's may be a big one. When the engine is used, it changes your screen resolution, just like in Windows, but when you're done, it doesn't return it to the oricignal resolution it will stay at 640x480. There are 3 things that you can do about this - 1) learn the key combo for your flavor of Linux that kills run level 5/changes run level 5 to run level 3 (text interface) and restart your system/relaunch run level 5. I've been told you can just logout and log back in, but I haven't tried that. 2) run all of your designs at 1024x768 (assuming that your system is set to that). You can do this with existing designs by changing two lines in the config.txt file, and it will run in the upper left-hand corner with unused space filled in with black. 3)Wait to play until the next release, when we can have a special "windowed" build of the engine made for Linux use (this is possible I'm using one, but it's not compatible with .914 editor)

Heck, I haven't updated WINE in a couple of months, maybe it works now...it might also be that I just haven't gotten the right DLL file installed yet.

I look forward to hearing how this goes.
