Default Disability

So...

I dont know if any of y'all have done this, but if you have, and you read this post, please glean for me some information that you may have encountered on registering a young child for disability. Without going into too many details, my youngest child was born with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and it doesnt look like she is going to grow out of it any time soon, if at all. The family pediatrician today suggested we look into doing it, and google, being helpful as it is, has 10000000000000000 links and posts about it and frankly right now I am plum tuckered out. I can go into the slew of autoimmune issues that have plauged my household this year, but this is not the place, and I would just like to know your thoughts. For those here that know me, Thank you, and for those that dont, thank you, please help me stay on task, the road has been long and it is getting longer.

Can you tell us a little more about it? Like where, on the body it is occurring?

Also, if you could tell us what you have done and who you have seen.

..and tell me where hurricane valley is as well.

Edit: sorry, I just remembered it's a disability question. Feel free not to answer any of this under the circumstances. I was just trying to learn more.

For others wanting to know about it, here's a link to a page explaining it at KidsHealth.org. Don't know how detailed it is, but it's a quick overview.

Elif, my heart and prayers go out to you. Some days are just damning as a parent, and you wish... never mind. I'm sure you know.

I don't have direct experience with registering for disability assistance, but....

Here's a link to the Social Security Administration's page to apply for disability benefits for children. It includes a link to a Child Disability Starter Kit... that may help. You can do part of it on-line, or they can walk you through the whole thing over the phone.

There appear to be various state-related agencies as well. If you want to give me your state, I'll do some looking for you there.

I'm here, amigo. Let me know what I can do, on- or off-line.

V, my daughter has had it since birth (7 years) and it has pretty much traveled through out her body. We have had Raynaud's Syndrome as well and she has pretty much pegged every 1% of 5% of 10000000 children can have this form if that makes sense. Now we are on to the Scleroderma side of things etc... Its been a long battle and she has been a real trooper! Were currently giving her Enbrel injections twice a week, and let me tell you, if it wasnt for that drug I dont know where we would be! She also on several other meds and such, the main issue is that they are mostly immune suppressors so she is more prone to get sick etc so we go from one fight to the next. Then to top things off I have recently found out that I managed to not only pass on more autoimmune issues but I have them as well!!! WOOT..... the list keeps growing and the holes are getting deeper but we keep plugging through em!

Thank you for the links B, we are looking into it now, I just need a lawyer as well to help things go smoothly because God forbid something go easy for a child with a real need and issue in this country!@
