IMHO the armor that they make is useless. And then if you try to sell it you get less than what it cost to make it.

However, it is useful for Viconia in early stages.

SpongeBobThe Destroyer is right. The best thing to do with the shells is to throw them away. You can take one shell to Cromwell to see why you have thrown the rest of them away

Pick up an ankheg shell, throw it at another ankheg and hope he dies. Or you could take it to cromwell and pay him 5000 gp to get an unenchanted armour with a lousy ac...

Well, it is a full plate at half the weight. And, druids can wear it. It's not that bad for some classes.

In the first BG it was useful, but due to the thousands of enchanted items compared to the three or four total in BG, it has lost its value.

indeed, in the BG II it has lost it's value because of all those great boosted up enchantend armors, but in Baldurs Gate is was a great armor that you could get in a pretty early stage of the game.

but in BG II it is worthless... trow it away and save those 5000 gp for something worthy

in the first BG, a longsword+2 would be a candidate for "most powerful item in the game".
