Stuck at Shaengarne Dam-Possible Spoilers

I'm in the midst of another run through of this cool game, and I reached the point where you destroy the Dam on the River Shaegarne (right before the bridge fight, right after the Torak fights). My problem is, after I destroy the first two segments, and take the third, nothing is added to my inventory (though I get the xp award and journal note) the game refuses to recognize that I have the wood (from the third support beam) to cross.

This is odd, because I've passed the dam quite a few times in previous games, and this never came up. Am I missing something? I've tried reloading earlier saves, and they all have the same problem. Unfortunately, due to an oversight all my saves on this runthrough are from the Shaengarne Dam portion. I could try and export and rerun the game up until this point, but I want to know if there's an easier way.

People have mentioned a console for IWD II, could this be used to get around the problem? If so, how?

You can try the console command if you really stuck.

First enable the cheat console using the IWD2 configuration then in game press [CTRL] + [TAB] in-game to open the console and type

ctrlaltdelete:hans()

this will teleport your characters to a selected pointer, preferbably near the exit.

OR type this

ctrlaltdelete:movetoarea("x")

This will load the area . For area names see the data directory of CD2. eg, ctrlaltdelete:movetoarea("AR6300")

Are you carrying a lot of stuff? There has to be room in the inventory for that piece of wood. Check each character and make sure each one has an open slot. Aside from some weird transient glitch, that's the only thing I can think of that might cause the problem.

I think that you need a journal entry for it to work. I may be wrong, since it's beena while since ive been there.
