I have come to the door that leads to the big brain. The Illithid will not open it for me, and it says that it requires super-human strength. Is there any other way than resorting to Mr. Nasty to get the job done?

If he Illithid wont open it for you, try changing to the Slayer.

Then perhaps try to locate a Ullitharid. They are a tad stronger then the Illithids, and can perhaps open it for you.

That last door is bugged as hell if you ask me.
I've been through the game several times, and its never opened the first time.
All i can say is keep walking your Ularithid/illithid in and out of the room and up to the door, move him around .. get your Main char. to stand next time him etc. untill the door finally understands that he's supposed to open.
He's allways gotten the point, in time, with my games

Hope it helpz

Maybe a spoiler

what in hell is a Ullithard?? anyways i have to say whats wrong with being the Slayer? he's heaps strong, fast and can kill better than anyone i seen. Just use him agaisnt Irenicus in the end and you'll have a little, if not a lot of a headstart. But don';t forget to use summons to break his spells, oh wait i've gone and blubbered again...

Use a Mind Flayer. Do not use Ullitharids( or however you spell it...).

Use the Illithids' Mind Control Circlets to dominate a Mind Flayer.

I have collared a Ulitharid, but it doesn't appear to be strong enough to do the job. Slayer can, but I don't want to give in to the plot of the game for my main character to turn to his dark side for help.

By the way, Is there any purpose to fight the Giths for the blade?
If not, is there any experience for giving it back?

Yes, there`s a purpose. Get the blade and the hilt, and take them to Cromwell. You get a VERY good Two-Handed sword, which can kill an opponent in 1 hit.
