Ok like I said yesterday, when i hit t to toggle realtime, it always says "Real time is turned ON" And setting the speed bar to 10 isnt slow at all. Is there anyway to just fricking pause like BG? I die half the time from flame striking myself because i cant get ready in time and monsters close the distance.

Mgdorsey: when the monsters come up, do they keep striking at you or do they pause and allow you to strike as well?

If they pause and allow you to strike, you're in turn-based mode. If they don't, you're in Real Time mode.

The game functions with a partial real-time. It only goes to turn base when a close combat starts. If you want to use long ranged spells make sure they are ready to cast, you can have up to five spells ready for each mage, and blast you enemies from a distance.
Whenever I leave town or reload a game, the first thing I do is making my mages ready to cast their most used spells.
Or you can start a close combat and retreat a little, they will stay waiting for you to finish your turn.

Mgdorsey: like what Deco said. This game's system is called "phase-based" rather than Turn based. If you've ever played Might & Magic, that's "turn-based", where you can set the game to where the monster's advance on you only a step at a time.
