So far Norah is 1 for 1 at the Grammy's tonight. She won for best pop album of the year. 1 down and 4 to go. Since I was the only one to list her on my favorites of 2002 thread; I'm going to gloat. Go Norah! Oh yes, she lives in Dallas. Local girl is doing good.

Norah is now 2 for 2 with 3 categories to go. She shared songwriter Grammy for "Don't know Why" with Jesse Harris. Darn, she won another one in one of those "awarded earlier" categories that I missed the name of because I was posting this. Oh well, 3 for 3 with 2 to go.
Iron Ranger, she lives in Dallas but didn't grow up here. Dallas is such a hotbed for local music that the radio stations will continue to not play her songs even though it has sold over 7 million copies and is winning all the grammy's. |

Oh My God! Norah just won song of the year. This was a category I didn't think she would win. 23 years old and rubbing elbows with Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt. Since I'm the one counting, that's 4 for 4 with 1 to go. Norah rules!

Best new artist. I really didn't like the Bruce Springsteen song (I've never been a fan except for "Blinded by the Light") and I don't like it when people manipulate tender emotions like Alan Jacksons song. |

LoA, Norah Jones is a pop singer (or some call her pop rock, bleh) that is in that 'talent pool' of Arvil Lavange (not spelled right), Michelle Branch and all that good stuff. Yeah I really dont like them .
Well all I can say is that was an aboustley AWFUL version of London Calling. Edit- Just now occured to me...That Clash 'Tribute' was really a let down. They could have done something much cooler. No high energy level, sound quality wasnt that good, they didnt even make that little noise Joe Strummer makes during London Calling! And just one song! They could have put something ALOT better together, IMO. [ 02-24-2003, 05:23 AM: Message edited by: Iron_Ranger ]

Norah Jones plays piano and sings. She does have a band backing her. It is hard to categorize her music. There are very strong jazz and blues influences in her work. She won in the pop category. She has a very strong, low, and smooth singing voice. If you hear her music before you see a picture or video of her you will definitely be surprised at the voice coming out of such a young and small woman. What really got to me, was that when I bought the cd for my wife it became an instant hit with my sons and their friends. It isn't very often that you can sit down with your 20 year old son and his friends and listen to a cd that everybody agrees is fantastic. (Sorry Iron Ranger but I know at least some young adults who like Norah)
