Any one got any driving tips for an 18 that doesn't has his license yet, and absolutely *hates* driving. I'm sorry dad but I just can't concentrate with you screaming at me over a mistake I made 20 minutse ago. Thanks for your help and all.
What is it with cars anyway? They just hate me. I Oversteer understeer, run into curbs, turn wrong, you name it i've done it at least a few times. (Except for giving the wrong signal.) I haven't done that yet! Seems like i'll never get very good at *this*!

Yeah I do. Don't drive with your parents when your a learner. Parents are paranoid! Get lessons and you'll find it's a lot more fun

Out of curiosity are you driving a manual or auto?

I went to driver's ed but I really didn't to do all that much driving. Just a bunch of paperwork. I have no idea why. I drive an automatic right now. You have to crawl before you can walk right?

Definitely get a professional instructor. Dads are awful at that sort of thing, I remember I once drove my dad's car and he put on the handbrake while I was waiting for a gap in the traffic to make a right turn (thanks dad). Of course I stalled the car and it was very embarassing.

I will actually learn to drive one of these days, but in the meantime I'm getting a scooter - a rather nice Vespa (no jokes about hairdryers or fishtail parkas please!)

I think i'll just do some practicing on my own. (You didn't hear that from me) I have no idea where to start looking for a pro instrutor down here, and with some practice maybe a lot of practice I might get this. Getting a scooter doesn't sound like such a bad idea right now actually. I mean they're easy to drive and all, and not that slow. And no I won't say anything about hairdryers or fish tail parkas.

S'easiest to learn manual then auto - that way you dont end up stripping a gearbox wondering why it hasnt shifted yet. Plus a manual licence covers autos as well. Dont want to have to take two tests do you? One was bad enough.

Oh and never get lessons form parents/relatives/friends. Most people it easier to concentrate without people panicking.

Definitely dont drive with your dad Red lol My dad yelled at me for doing the speed limit on the interstate (55mph then) and made me go 40 mph. It was kind of like the movie Revenge of the Nerds where everyone was beeping at them and yelling lol Anyway with a learners permit you could drive with a buddy in the car as long as he is 18, maybe you could try that. Then you could get better at it without getting yelled at

Good idea Lord of Alcohol. There are lots of people I could get to let me drive with em. Lol! Your dad got mad at you for *going* the speed limit? Mine gets mad if you're a mile under! And I quote. "Go the speed limit d**mmit. I hate people who don't go the speed limit!"
