On one of the woods maps down by the knoll stronghold there is a dig site where you have to defend Nib. Then you have an option of taking this evil netherse idol, which ofcourse i want to.

The problem is if you take the idol as soon as you leave the cave this apparition called a "doomsayer" comes out to kill you. I have 2 questions.

1) Is he invincible?

2) if i do kill him once, will he keep re-appering through out the game because i have his idol?

thanks

No. He's not invincible and he only appears once. Good XP for killing him.

He's not extremely tough. Good buffs and standard tactics can take care of him. Unless your party is still low level.

btw, why do you want the idol? Do you know what its for? I don't want to spoil you in case youre new to the game.

Have one character with the Boots of Speed run around while he chases you arounded, and have everyone else pelt him with arrows/slings/bolts. If your characters are strong enough, have a tank engage in hand-to-hand combat, although he may need to run away to heal up every now and then.

It is only worth it if you want the experience. Otherwise, no, stick with what you have done.

The idol is not "for" anything at all. It is possible to sell it, but not for an amount that would justify the trouble of getting it.

Kozah was an Evil god. One would assume that the Doomsayer is a servant of Kozah, come to collect the Idol either for some Evil purpose, or merely to take it someplace where it won't be found (and possibly profaned) by meddling infidels once again. So letting him have the Idol would be an Evil or Neutral action, and killing him would almost certainly be a Good action.

the easter egg is pointless. The prize you can get with it is pretty much useless.
