How do you get in? Is the key on Ratskillian (whatever) coz I didn't kill him. I whacked the Black hand assassins instead as I took the oath of thieves to Gorion (RIP) and Ratskillian is Hidden Circle too) I take it that the lift has summat to do with the vaults as it's on the same level)

The King carries the key...you can pickpocket it from him or whack him to get it.
Your choice. ; )

The lift gets you into one of four of the vault rooms from that level...getting the key gets you into all of them.

The only way to get the Assassin class is to do the job for the Black Hand.

I doubt there any reprecussions for any nasty little things we do to the NPCs in this game! Whack away and let thy conscience be thy guide!

(there is a rumor that in W&W2 (if it ever comes out) characters ported in that have gone around killing good NPCs will be severely handicapped and stuck with extreme bad luck)

(this rumor was started by me - pass it on)

Aye, Wyvern! Something telleth me that Wizardry 8 shalt be far, far different in the ways of dealing with NP-killing! Let us hope so, at least.

Which means we will have to be at our best behavior or suffer the consequences, I fear, Saz!

Sounds great to me.

Well, I whacked out Noble King Freyidies (plus about thirty stouts who tried to prevent me sacking their kingdom). Did feel guilty as I've always been a good boy on RPGs (My Baldur's Gate rep was saintly). Even the 40K in Gold and swag did little to relieve my conscience... What's the point of spending three days in the stout mines, finding triumphantly the dragon ore, then letting Freyidies forge dragon armour if you can just lay waste to him immediately and get the key and recover three complete suits of Dragonplate????

Beats me.
