I have been thinking about buying this game so I want to ask some questions.

1. Does the game have a first person wiew or a third person? Do I actually see my charachter?

2. Can I get NPCs (now I mean like in Baldurs Gate)?

3. is the game really big, 'cause I have heard it is?

1)Both of them, just hit the tab key and you can switch.

2)No, not really. Some mods allow you to get mercenaries, and some quest require you to escort people who might help (or usually hinder) you in combat. Having mercs is however IMHO annoying, since they tend to get stuck everywhere, and might, depending on the mod, be even slower than you.

3)The main game is huge, absolutely huge. Mods make it neverending, truly.

They're the best. And since you're basically a one-person party, you don't see that "from the top" view. You're either in first person, or you're in third person but looking ahead like you would in first person. Makes you feel like you're there instead of looking at a dollhouse.

Yes, although you need a good machine to run it at 1024x768, which makes the graphics gorgeous

ehm... second person view? there's something wrong... you should be viewing your char through the eyes of another char/NPC, which is plainly absurd (what if there's nobody around?).
There's first person view - quake like, and third person view - you view your char as a he/she, from the exterior.
