Los Angles and other areas in CA are with no power--no one seems to know that we are having MEGA solar flare activity.. X-20+ flares, and those surge the grid. They just need to reset, and bring parts of the grid up slowly..

I wonder if any Satellites are out too...

I dunno.. but I checked the NOAA Solar data for today, and it said "CCD BAKEOUT" which means, the solar flare was so off the scale, the CCD camera optics couldnt measure it.

SOME in LA are now saying its a line cut, but another still doesnt know.. we shall see.

If it's Solar, they can reboot the grid pretty quick, in chunks..

Also, if it's solar, the area facing the sun where the flare came from would the the most hit, so I dunno about NYC.

Worker error kills power to half of L.A.

About 700,000 electric customers in Los Angeles lost power Monday afternoon after a worker mistakenly cut a wrong line, triggering a cascade of problems in the city's power grid, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.

The blackout trapped people in elevators and caused traffic to snarl at intersections where stoplights weren't working.

After the power failed, Los Angeles police went on full tactical alert, with officers ordered to stay on duty at the end of their shifts. The alert was later downgraded, although officers were still being kept on duty to assist in traffic control.

--oops.
