Good guess I would be upset to have a mere Slaad as my summons...and a Vrock? what a waste. Guess good has it's upside

Ooops, I have been confusing this spell with anothe p&p spell, which makes it impossible for enemies to o ethereal. I've been selling a few of these spells IIRC.

Why would a pure Spellcaster ever want to go head to head with a Daemon when they could use the unearthly intelligence and Wisdom they had gained to literally have him eating out of their hand simply by useing his true name? If you insist on duking it out in a spell battle against a Monster that is nearly magic proof....you aren't useing the right muscles Im not calling anyone stupid...Im just saying, if you want to be a barbarian and muscle your way through thats fine but if you use a character based on intelligence...why not use that intelligence instead of trying to be a barbarian weilding magic?

Balance doesnt demand that you be able to kill him with magic missiles...balance means that you can best him....some how.....some way.
[/QB]
But if someone missed the conversation hook, asked their 2 questions, and saved the game, what then? .

Then they, as my old Boot Camp Drill instructor once said "are F****D!"

Just as if you never learned that the Dragon has one weakness and that it is Broccoli.. Again a game doesnt have to protect people from their own mistakes to be balanced.

I found him beatable with a rogue/shadowdancer/weaponmaster once I discovered that he has no immunity to acid damage at all. If I was a caster, use metamagic feats to stock up as many summons and acid speels as you can. Otherwise, hope you hung onto something that does acid damage. I was using a scimitar+6 with acid damage that I found somewhere, plus some scrolls.
Got him down eventually using regen + hide in plain sight.
