Also, you might like to try Fallout 1 and 2 for something a little different from the standard sword-and-sorcery epics. They are great, immersive RPGs.

You might like to try the icewind dale games.I would also say the games that everyone else allready suggested.

I played a game called Black & White, which wasn't too bad. Granted, after a few hours the game tends to drag a bit, but overall it had some interesting ideas and flowed quite nicely. Outside of the Baldur's Gate saga, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale series, and Morrowind, I haven't found rpg games that hold my attention for very long. I'm not to hunt for the games with special effects; instead I look for games with style, class, and a story worth hearing. Interestingly enough computer games are becoming like movies...the plot has been replaced by the lights, bells and whistles.

My recommendation would be for Planescape: Torment. Probably one of the best written games as far as dialog and story.
