For whatever unknown reason I was singing this song in my head and being nostalgic.
I love this old record by Justin Hayward. I'll share the lyrics here for the younger members or those that don't know it.
If someone knows how to link to the tune please do so.

Forever Autumn

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

through autumns golden gown we used to kick our way
you always loved this time of year
those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
cos you're not here x 3

like the sun through the trees you came to love me
like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

a gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
as if to hide a lonely tear
my life will be forever autumn
cos you're not here x 6

I really love that record.

Please, we've all got (more than ) one. What record/s lyrics move you? What nostalgic (for you) recording/lyric hits your minds eye immediately now you've read the thread? Please share the lyrics, if you can link to the tune then fine as long as it's ok and legal.
No multiple in sucession posts please.

P.S. I went "Google.Com" to search the lyric, just type in the title, artist and usually you'll find it.

Nice one Charlie - I'll give you one (oooer missus)....

Wond'ring Aloud by Jethro Tull

Wond'ring aloud
how we feel today.
Last night sipped the sunset
my hands in her hair.
We are our own saviours
as we start both our hearts beating life
into each other.

Wond'ring aloud
will the years treat us well.
As she floats in the kitchen,
I'm tasting the smell
of toast as the butter runs.
Then she comes, spilling crumbs on the bed
and I shake my head.

And it's only the giving
that makes you what you are.

I also considered posting some lyrics by Stackridge, but decided not to as I'm probably the only person here who has heard of them.....

I have always like that song Charlie - the only version I have though is on my War of the Worlds CD. Think I'll drag that back out and play it today - cheers buddy

Nice one too Mouse.
I know we can find/link the lyrics but is there anyway we can link to the song itself. So that the reader can hear the tune in time with the lyric?

I seem to recall it being done once before with a Robert Miles tune, Children. no biggie, just wondering if it's possible.

Good call Mouse.

Yup, you got it. You're on the ball buddy.
Dunno, I just think it's a beautiful record beautifully sung. Good to have a bit of nostalgia now and then.

Pleased you liked my choice...I'm still singing it in my head.

P.S. Play it loud....Enjoy.

Can't find any sites with streaming audio of that Jethro Tull song (it's off Aqualung) and as for Stackridge, you have more chance of finding hen's teeth.

"throw your arms around me" It was origanaly by the Hunters and collecters but what really blew me away was an accopela (sp) version by Paul MacDermot

I will come for you at nighttime
I will raise you from your sleep
I will kiss you in four places
As I go running along your street
I will squeeze the life out of you
You will make me laugh and make me cry
And we will never forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky
And we may never meet again
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me
I dreamed of you at nighttime
And I watched you in your sleep
I met you in high places
I touched your head and touched your feet
So if you disappear out of view
You know I will never say goodbye
And though I try to forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky...
And we may never meet again...
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me
Oh...yeah...
Ohhh yeah...
You will throw your arms around me...
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me....

I hope this is not too obscure for our non Australian audiance. It makes me all emotional

This song just does it for me. Its by a band called VNV Nation and they are realy inspired.

Quote:
Darkangel

[May 1999]

In your dream you see me clear
I have no restraint, no fear
Powerless I watched from faces I'd assumed.
My purpose set. My will defined.
Caress the air.
Embrace the skies.
Escape the sorrow and restraint of mortal cities.

Give me time I will be clear.
Given time you'll understand
What posesses me to right what you have suffered.
I'm in this mood because of scorn.
I'm in a mood for total war.
To the darkened skies once more and ever onward.

So many years I stood among
the thoughts and tears of those I served.
Among my own I was alone through my own doing.
All the years I walked unknown behind the faces I assumed.
Powerless to clear your mind of what you'd suffered.

They fall again.
They fall again.

Give me time I will be clear.
Given time you'll understand
What posesses me to right what you have suffered.
I'm in this mood because of scorn.
I'm in a mood for total war.
To the darkened skies once more and ever onward.
There is no faith in which to hide.
Even truth is filled with lies.
Doubting angels fall to walk among the living.
I'm in this mood because of scorn.
I'm in a mood for total war.
To the darkened skies once more and ever onward.

I'd only come here seeking peace.
I'd only come here seeking me.

It seems I came to leave.
