You must have the second weapon skill, then equip it in the shield hand.I belive the same factors for a sucessful strike apply plus level of second weapon skill.

To get 2nd weapon, you must first get the Doublestrike trait (available at the Bushi Dojo and Warrior guilds after a certain level), then start training in 2nd weapon. The higher your rank in 2nd weapon skill, the greater the chance at the character using the skill. However: 2nd weapon does NOT influence the hit statistic of the second weapon; that relates back to weapon skill. That is, if the second weapon is an axe, then Axe skill will be what is used. If the second weapon is a sword (like a Wakizashi), then Sword skill will determine.

Second Weapon is really great. I have a lead character Warrior/Barbarian/Paladin/Samurai with Str/Dex/Agi all 18, Sword skill 10, Double Strike, Second Weapon skill 9 (trains at every level at every guild) armed with a Katana +3 and a Wakizashi +3, (Enchant is coming on slowly) and she can deal out 50+ damage points in a one turn. But if she really wants to hurt them, then a quick Incinerate spell first to soften them up usually does the job! My Ninja and Bard both have good second weapon skills, too.
