If you have a character that has a high or decent level pickpocket skill, you can "steal" the crab shell from the crabs. Often you can steal a shell when killing the crab would not give you one. I probably stole all but one or two of my shells.
I have always wondered about that, though. A few times, my thief was "caught" stealing a crab shell. It made me wonder about the times I was successfull. Did the crab not notice that his shell was missing? Is my thief that good? I can almost imagine the crab saying, "It was so good to meet you. My home is yours." Knarfling ------------------ Only two of my personalites have delusions, but one of them is paranoid and the other is out to get him. |

 I have tried to steal the shells, but my bard gets nothing. (Probably not high enough level in pickpocket - I didn't concentrate much on it!) Of course I haven't got anything after I killed 'em either, so maybe I have discovered a shell-less variety?!? As I recall there are plenty of crabs with shells inside Collasium. So as soon as you have breathers and helms for a couple of characters you could take them on over to Collasium to get more shells for your other characters. Then you could use Call of Home, go pick up the rest of your party, and then go back into Collasium and finish with your whole party.
