I'm in the entrance to the asylum but can't get any further. The door to the inmates section shows up on my map but doesn't appear in the game. I can't get back over the bridge to Brynlaw either and haven't saved (stupidly) any of Brynnlaw.
Can anyone help me please!!! |

When you enter that area, a Coweled Wizard should "escort" you through the Asylum.
Have you found both sets of doors? The first set is "warded with powerful magics" or such, but the second set should lead you to the prisoners section. If you are trying to reload, save your current location under a new file name, and then reload with the Auto-save (which may have been right before entering the Asylum, or before leaving Brynlaw -- I'm not sure which). Also, try resting. I've noticed that some glitches clear up when you rest. Maybe you need to have a dream or something. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Good luck. |

Father Bronze, Thanks for replying. There are two sets of doors on the right which are warded and I can't enter. I can see a door on the left on my map but it doesn't appear on the game screen. I stayed in the area for a long time, going in and out of the building, resting and such but no monk appeared. I actually had to go back to just before the shadow thieves quest and do it again, without all the sub quests I had been working on for a week, so no XP there. I'm almost about to go to Brynnlaw, again.
Thanks anyway. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem on the boards, yet. |

Someone had a similar problem earlier, but I don't know exactly what happened.
Have you installed the patch? I don't know if that fixes this particular problem or not. |

Yes, I installed the patch when I found I couldn't go anywhere but it didn't help. I suppose the real solution is to save, save, save!!!

I didn't think that the cheats keys worked in this game too but I could have used them to teleport into the inmates quarters and went from there (stupid)!!!!

In order to enable the cheat codes you need to add a line to your Baldur's Gate 2 ?.ini file. I don't know the exact language, but you can find the info on several sites.
If you haven't done' this, the cheat codes are disabled. |

Yeah, I've been using the cheats for a while. Trying to install the XPcap remover but can't get it to work. Do you know exactly how to do this?

You should just be able to download the files unzip them (in my case xpcap.2da nad weapprof.2da) and put them in the overides folder in the BG2 folder
