Times do seem good for DC these days! The FRUA and DC crossposting definitely helps a lot, and is good, as both communities have much in common (not to mention taste in games ).

We are a good group, and it is great if we can help keep DC alive! Yay!

(No promises on my side for the mod, of course, but I can at least churn out some new art in the mean time...)

The only drawback to the current arrangement, is not a drawback to the arrangement itself but a bit of forgetfulness on my part - I'm having a hard time keeping some of the conversations and responses to conversations between the various venues.

I'm pretty happy with the state of things and potential things. I've just been looking at Paul's latest on the Special Ability front...Woo-hoo! Paul is giving us the ability to recreate the FRUA special abilities and so very much more. Of course, gulp, I'm going to need to do lot of scripting in the not-too-distant future. I think that's a pretty fair trade-off - Paul gives us an awesome new tool and I use said tool. The tool by the way is a new editor and database for special abilities.

Woo - that is awesome! Looking forward to using that tool, too!

As Paul is showing me more, I'm getting more and more excited. Lots of scripts to write, but I think we're on the cusp of being able to do all the missing Special Abilities.

Hmm - is summoning creatures a nearing possibility then?

We will be able to do everything we can do in FRUA, and if Special Abilities do not cover summoning, we'll add it.

To briefly touch on topic, I did some work on my design this evening. I don't know if I'll use all of them, but I have 19 races in my design now.

I have uploaded a page for "Friedrich's Quest" on my homepage. Right now, it is quite a small place, but I'll add more stuff soon.

BTW:
I guess we shall upload the completed contributions more or less at the same time?

Nice page. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

As for posting the designs...the only issue I can see, is do we want to release to the public before we do the "judging"? And what about people without a web site?

Eventually, after all the designs are in, and the judging is done, I will put them all up on the DC web site

I'll create a page for my own design as well, but I should probably get more done on the design first.

I did work on it yesterday. I hope to put in some time today, too.

Well, perhaps we should not do so. The judging will probably point everybody to possibilities to improve her/his design. However, I will probably give some friends the opportunity to download my design for playtesting - and stating whether or not they would like to do some voice acting. By the way: Will version 1.0 allow to add sounds to more events? When I thought about voice acting, it occured to me that several important events do not give the sound option. Of course, this could partly be solved with the "play sounds event" put before other events, yet, maybe you or Paul can do something about that. The real cool thing would be if the different tales in taverns could be linked to sounds, but I guess this would really be a problem.
Please note, I consider this to be almost lowest priority.

This would be good. Are there any limits concerning file size? (I guess my design is around 26MB unzipped right now, but that would of course change with voice acting and more sounds...)

I'm not opposed to anyone posting anything. I just wanted to point out that there are two parts to this contest. People can post on or slightly before the deadline (if they wanted) and then release an update if they change anything.

I will probably wait to make mine playable to the public until it's been judged, because I doubt I'll have time to get someone else to beta test it.

I have no idea what the limit is, I figure I'll just keep putting stuff up until they don't let me anymore and then worry about it.
