Welcome to IW Sweet Melinda!
I did play Sam 'n Max once on a friend's computer quite a while back. Not bad, but i didn't get too far. Curse of Monkey Island was more in my league. But i gotta love the cartoon doggies! [edit: Almost forgot! Do we call you Sweety, or Mel? ![]() [ 09-06-2005, 10:53 AM: Message edited by: Sever ]

There's a fair few more entries now so I'll update the list later today. Things are slowing down now so we're probably approaching the final list.
X-Com: UFO Enemy Unknown was really addictive (although I'm with you guys on TFTD too!). I remember playing it on my 486 DX4-100, and I had to switch the "Turbo" button on the front of my case off to slow it down to 16 MHz or something because it ran so hopelessly fast lol. Rotating the Earth about on its Axis (on full speed) used to rotate to quickly I couldn't see it move! Felix you have a few Amiga games in there (long live the Amiga!) but I've restricted this poll to just PC games otherwise there would be a little too much spread in the results. What would you like me to do with the list, or do you fancy putting another one together? |

![]() Seriously though games like Elite were cross platform so that's a perfectly valid entry, but is there anything in your list that wasn't cross platform, such as Cosmic Balance? The only reason I've tried to restrict the poll to PC games only is to make the results gathering easier, otherwise we could be dealing with many hundreds of titles, rather than the slightly more restricted list of games that were playable on, or made specifically for, a PC. |
What do you mean cross platform? Amiga perhaps? Amiga was powered by a Motorola 680xx series, just like Macs, Suns, and others of the day. So, as I understand this, we can through 'Moores Law' out the window? The evolution of microprocessing, the devolpment of transistors, and the changing of the micron form mold on CPUs as well? Can we call Intel up and say hey, revert back to 8080 CPUs so we can call them PCs again? Me thinks NOT! This is your thread, I'll behave, but keep in mind this fact. Not all PCs are based off of what you have described above. You see, before the hip hop misconception rage of PC ( Dell, Compaq, HP, Alienware et al.) Apple, Rockwell, Commodore, Atari, IBM, and Texas Instruments produced Personal Computers. That was way before your published birthdate of 1980. So, I ask again, could you re-define PC? - Or, should we disreagrd history, and only call modern day, name brand Wintel based personal computers, PCs?
Felix - Consoles use micro-processors too, in fact very little seperates the X-Box from the PC technically, yet it is a console. Classifying anything with a microprocessor as a Personal Computer is a completely moot point so I'll make this nice and easy - "IBM PC compatible" games. Now stop being difficult . |
