Yes. Small world. Does Brainerd have a Pizza Hut? On trips to visit our grandparents in Arkansas, my brother and I always guaged the level of civilization on whether the town had a Pizza Hut or not.

Brainerd does have a Pizza Hut.. and many other things that are considered signs of civilization - Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Office Max... well, I didn't say they were GREAT signs of civilization!

My town has a Pizza Hut too.. and about 30 other pizza joints, all the major burger chains, a Perkins and Target. That's about it. And we are the only place with a Pizza Hut in 100 miles in any direction. Does that make us civilized?

I KNEW there was a reason I wanted a Pizza Hut in town!
All we have is a Dairy Queen, a Sonic & a soon to open McDonalds!

Bilqis,

Speaking of Dairy Queen, why are Minnesotans so head over heals about Dairy Queen? It’s as if they have never had good ice cream.

Woe to the person who speaks a discouraging word about Dairy Queen, in Minnesota.

Good Friend Moni,

Good to see you.

nice to see you too!

I am headed out now to work on the windows for a while while I still have some energy left after shopping today. What perfect timing for that check to arrive and what a wonderful guy Rex is for giving me a "finder's fee" as he called it LOL!
Tomorrow is his birthday and Sunday is mother's day...I got him and his mom all taken care of this afternoon and I think they will be happily suprised!

See you later!

Remember onthepequod, many Minnesotans love bland bland food, and weak watery coffee. Plus they are big supporters of dairy. The further north you get, and the more rooted the populace is, the blander they love their food to be. So of course dairy queen is popular! (I despise it myself... give me ben & jerry's or even Baskin Robbins over that!)

Can't get anything but dairy queen in most of rural Minnesota.

I only live here because dh & I LOVE our jobs. That's the only reason. Oh.. it is pretty too.

Oops! I am sitting here taking a break from "work" getting ready to go start dinner, browsing threads and I pop into this one and see that I totally screwed up with the pic of part of my backyard from earlier! Fixed it! There it is, in all it's ugliness LOL! Poor lil stump that the tree is now is trying to grow new branches...where'd those iron nails I found go?

Moni,

Didn't want to say anything earlier. So it just tried to picture it myself.

Now I can see that I was much largeer than I imagined. But it sounds like you got to the root of the problem and have since branched out into other projects.

Earlier you also mentioned being in the market for a router. So which ones are you considering?

BTW, I had my hearing tested today and the results came back in the normal range. I already told RudeDawg thanks for the coaxing but I want to extend the thanks to you as well for your part in encouraging me to stop procrastinating.

onthepequod!
Fantastic! I am glad you got the test done!

Loved your puns LOL! I am partial to Black & Decker and Craftsman tools. Do you have a recommendation?

Rex is going to be so suprised tomorrow! He actually guessed what I bought him for his birthday and I gave in and gave him the sweats and shorts but little does he know (and I am not posting exactly what it is here in case he reads through here at night~him being a night shift kinda guy who maintains a database for an internet service and surfs when he is not performing back-ups, maintenance or inspections) I have a whole 'nother bag 'o gifts waiting for him with a card that I actually got his grandpa to sign!
That was a feat in itself since Grandpa had a stroke and can't write! I was so proud, I did not even have to help him, I just coaxed him a little and once he signed "grandpa" he told me that's all he could get, he could not write anything more. That's enough though, he may not be around to see Rex have another birthday and I think it will be special for him to have a card this year actually signed BY him instead of FOR him.

Moni,

I personally am a fan of Porter Cable and Bosch. My router is a Bosch plunge router which is nice when you need to plunge into the wood for interior work(as opposed to routing the edge of the board). However, I find that I use this feature infrequently and the $$ I spent for this feature are probably not justified. However, IMHO I do think that Porter Cable and Bosch are probably a little better quality than Black & Decker or Skill. I think you will see this in the movements of the equipment and in the longevity. This is just my opinion though and as I have posted before; a truly talented woodworker can produce masterpieces regardless of tools used.

On other fronts, I imagine the signature will mean alot to Rex. Grandfathers are special and our time with them is prescious little.

From previous posts I hope I didn't give the impression that chiding bothers me. I enjoy being teased.
