So disappointed. And it was such a soft defeat, not even a very hard-won victory by the Eagles.

Glorfindel what is that vomit-inducing font you're using? I'm sure you said something worthwhile but sadly, it went unread by me.

Good to see IW back up again. Now if we can just get Akkka, aka Jason Akermanis (Browlow Medallist and premiership player for the all conquering Brisbane Lions) off this bogus reckless contact charge tonight we should just about have the team back to full strength.

The mighty Gunners crushed Bolton overnight, and moved to within 2 points of securing the championship. A result (draw or win) at Old Trafford against the Manx Devils, or a home win against Everton are all that seperate the mighty Arsenal from the title. Go the GUNNERS .

LOL - two sleeps and a long plane ride for me . Should be naming a near full strength line up this weekend - almost the premiership side. Des Headland would be unlucky to miss on last weekend's form though, so it might be the Norm Smith medallist that misses out (Shaun Hart).

What a guru I am (plucks tickets off self) - I was predicting that change at work all week. Thought after writing the paragraph above that the team would have just been named an hour ago. I just opened a window and looked at the Lions website and found that they have gone exactly the way I predicted .

Scarf is ready Aelia

Yesterday Aelia and Davros met for the first time. We went to watch the mighty Brisbane Lions (Premiers and current ladder leaders) dismiss and thrash the number 2 team in the football league. Good opposition is getting hard to find .

There was much parochial cheering. and a good time was had by all (unless you happened to be one of the 5 or 6 Port Power fans in the crowd). I congratulate Aelia on being the first IW member to NOT thrust a pint of FOSTERS into my hand upon meeting me.

My nephew has been given some homework and I wonder if any of the Australians can help. He has to incorporate the following words into a meaningful sentence.

Queensland, Blues, 32-4, Dad's Army, humiliation.

Can anyone help?

LOL :

Today, four the final time, Dad's Army, the long running TV humiliation of British war time civil militia, was shown on regional stations in Queensland. A small but loyal band of fans of the show were left teary-eyed and singing the blues. "We tried to save the show we did", sobbed tearful Frederick Tartlet, "but we only got thirty two signatories to our petition".

[/QUOTE]Let me try.

Queensland (nicknamed Dad's Army because they are a bunch of old men) suffered humiliation at the hands of the Blues when they were thrashed 32-4 in the first State of Origin match.

How's that?
