Seraph, a Rep. bonus from a quest is a Rep. bonus from a quest, even if it's 2 points from the same quest. The only ones I won't count are things like booting Viconia from the party, or quests that involve a specific class doing their Stronghold quests. Although it can be argued that Stronghold Rep. points should be counted, I have chosen to disregard them, because the answer is only valid for certain classes (How would you feel if I asked you some obscure question related to the Bard Stronghold, like "What country is Balmitance from?"), and also because I'm not going to play-test my way through every flippin' Stronghold in the game to see if you get a Rep. point at the end of it.

Now what does that say about the sicko who wrote the damn thing in the first place, not to mention grading all the responses?

If you delete posts, does it knock down your post count?

{Edit} Nope...that's too bad.

Otherwise you could have gone back to some of the really old threads and deleted enough posts to demote yourself...

Seeing as Six stated really politely that he needs a chinchilla, I'm going to be a chinchilla
*gives Sixofspades a quick hug*
It was Bahamut last time, wasn't it? 'S where my line "I Am a self Pro-claimed CHINCHILLA!" comes from...

Alson, I'm giving karlosovic another shot at just one question, as he was obviously suffering from impaired mental facilities at the time: He understood what the question was about, but misinterpreted the wording of the question, with the result that his answer was the polar opposite of what it should have been. (In English, that translates to: "He looked at Question #23, and thought it said to 'List all the NPCs who do not require magical aid to use the Hammer of Thunderbolts.' If that had indeed been the question, his answer would have been 100% correct.")

I did let Sir Goulum take the first Quiz twice, but that was after a 9-month hiatus--long enough for him to forget the questions, and long enough for both of us to forget that he'd already taken it. You, however, Alson, have had time to play through the game again, seeking out the answers to questions you weren't sure of.....not to mention the fact that I've been using you for my second opinion for Questions #8 and #21.

While we're on the subject of my English skills, Seraph, I see nothing whatsoever in my wording of Question #5 that is either improper, unclear, or of poor aesthetics. So there.

It is, indeed, a good thing to have a Chinchilla in the rankings. What other Bhaalspawn has the guts to throw caution to the wind and valiantly face off against a foe so vastly superior? Apart from the noble Chinchilla's compatriots (Tibbit, Merlinious, and of course Toop the Brave), I can't think of a one. So, Kaltia, you may indeed take the Quiz for real, and earn your deserved rank, but your Chinchillahood shall nobly persevere for eternity.

(And yes, Bahamut was the first one. )

* * * ANSWERS!!! * * *

1. Nalia can wear a *Cloak* of Protection in conjuction with her Ring, but NOT a *Ring* of Protection.
A: False. Her Ring does not conflict with anything.

2. Once upon a time, you could enter the Slums-District Sewers directly, without going through the Copper Coronet or the Slaver Ship.
A: True. Take a good look at the northwest corner of the Temple District. Unless I'm blind, that's an OPEN sewer grating. It almost certainly led down to the stairs that now take you to the Myconid Room. Far too many people didn't seem to understand that this question deals with the way things were IN THE PAST.

3. The Spectral Harpists are an easy kill.
A: True. Despite all the hype, they're just a trio of weak Mages--Rayic Gethras is much more of a challenge. Even low-level parties straight out of Jon's Dungeon can take out the Spectral Harpists (without even using the Harper Amulet) without much difficulty. The *really* weird thing is--Jaheira doesn't complain about it!

4. The best method of keeping Yoshimo (meaning, he loses the least amount of EXP) involves having him *in* the party, but *dead,* at the moment when Irenicus reveals himself in Spellhold.
A: False. If Yoshimo is in your party *AT ALL* when Irenicus shows up, he WILL be removed, even if he's dead. The best way to keep him is to Petrify him in Brynnlaw, and then Stone to Flesh him when you get back, allowing you to re-recruit him and feed him the EXP he earns in the Underdark. (This exploit may have been prevented by the BaldurDash Fixpack, however. I've yet to test it.) You can even Petrify Yoshimo while in Spellhold itself--and, if you fight Lonk the Sane and make it a prolonged battle, you might even be able to get Yoshimo back in the party before fighting Irenicus. Weird!

5. After defeating the Shade Lord, one can walk directly down to the rest of the Temple Ruins map, without having to go back through the dungeon.
A: True. Apparently, since it's daylight now, there's a little pathway that you couldn't see before.

6. If you do not actually have the Silver Sword Blade (or the Silver Sword itself) in your possession, Simyaz and his fellow Githyanki show no hostility toward you when you speak to them after leaving the Illithid City in the Underdark.
A: False. No matter what you say, they WILL attack you, whether you've got the Blade or not. The only way to avoid a fight is not to speak to them at all.

7. Match the names of the Underwater City hierarchy to the titles they hold.
1. King = Ixilthetocal
2. Prince = Villynaty
3. Baron = Thelokassyil
4. Royal High Priestess = Senityili
5. High Priestess = Tlyysixxous
6. Senior Priestess = Sallinithyl
7. Captain = Feerlattiys
I noticed a strange trend with this question: Most of you got either ALL of the Priestesses right and all the male Sahuagin wrong, or you got ALL the males correct and the Priestesses wrong. Odd. (Of course, there were those of you who got all *7* names right, but unfortunately I lack the professional training to be able to help people like that. )

8. Which of the following creatures has the best weapon immunities? (Can only be hit by +? weapons)
a) the Werewolf in the Temple Ruins. Anath can *ONLY* be touched by weapons of +6 enchantment or better. This seems to vary a bit from computer to computer: Alson and Jim report that she's immune to ALL weapons. Try it & see for yourself!
b) the Demi-Lich in the Docks District (requires +4 enchantment)
c) the Adamantite Golem in Suldenesselar (all A. Golems require +3 enchantment)
d) the Lesser Demon Lord in the Underdark (requires +5 enchantment)
e) the Dragon in Hell (no weapon immunities)

9. Which of the following can you NOT offer the Demon in your dream?
a) I give of my might and my strength of arms. Sacrificing a point of Strength is not an option, nor is Charisma.
b) I give of my youth, sacrificing my agility of movement.
c) I give of my health, becoming less hardy.
d) I give of my mind and my capacity to learn.
e) I give of my wits and the wisdom I have learned.

10. How do you spell the names of the fishy folk?
a) Kou-Toa and Shaughain
b) Koa-Toa and Saghuain
c) Kao-Toa and Shaghuin
d) Kuo-Toa and Sahuagin
e) Kua-Toa and Sauhgain
Many more people than I'd expected got this one right...Kou-Toa was probably the easier of the two names. I should have broken this one up into two questions.

11. In the "Loading Area" screens, you are shown five mosaic pictures, each of which happens to depict the Stronghold of one (or more) of the various classes. Which classes' strongholds are shown?
a) Ranger, Monk, Thief
b) Barbarian, Cleric, Mage
c) Bard, Mage, Paladin
d) Fighter, Ranger, Druid
e) Sorcerer, Thief, Bard
The 5 mosaic pictures are: Exterior of the de'Arnise Keep Fighter/Barbarian/Monk),
Exterior of the Temples of Helm and Lathander, seen from the Radiant Heart (Cleric),
Statue of unidentified Goddess, inside the Temple of Lathander (Cleric),
Exterior of the Planar Sphere, seen from the Copper Coronet (Mage/Sorcerer),
and the Navigator's Room inside the Planar Sphere (Mage/Sorcerer).

12. Who is the leader of the Illithid's Human slaves in the Underdark?
a) Sir William of Thorpe is the man having an affair with Lady Maria Firecam.
b) Khan Zahraa of Calimshan is the leader of the Dao Djinn in Trademeet.
c) Gont of Riatavin is a guy trapped within the Imprisonment Crystal in the Underdark.
d) Camaris Highcastle of Myratma is the Slave Leader.
e) Lady Tandolan of Um is a guest at Lord de'Arnise's funeral.

13. Which of the following is NOT an unfinished quest (or subquest) that was only partially implemented into the game?
a) Haer'Dalis's deal with the Storekeep in the Bridge District (Black Lotus, anyone?)
b) Jan's quest to destroy Vaelag
c) Arrest Ti'Vael for the burglaries in the Government District
d) Valygar's quest to avenge Suna Seni
e) Find the missing Priest of Helm, Guardian Herolde
About the possible answers:
A) Can be verified easily, simply by talking to the Storekeep (the one next to Bel Dalemark) with Haer'Dalis in the party. Black Lotus is not actually mentioned, but it's obvious that they're discussing something personal and possibly illegal. There are so many hints & references to Black Lotus in the game that it was almost certainly a quest that got left behind.
B) After you complete Jan's quest, he asks if he can count on you for your support when the time comes to take out Vaelag and win Lissa back. Unfortunately, that time *never* comes, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it except curse BioWare. A highly unsatisfying end to the dumbest quest in the game.
B') This Quiz originally had "Protect Quadeel from the Dockhand Ogres" as its answer for B. That's because, in one of my games, I ran into the 3 of them in the Bridge District, and none of them 'had anything to say to me.' "Aha!" I said, and jotted them down as another Unfinished Quest. But then, in my next game, the encounter worked perfectly, and so I had to edit the Quiz and take them off the list.
C) I made this one up, and you can probably tell if you think about it. I knew that "Ti'Vael's Head" was an item in Shadowkeeper, so I added the name to give my bogus answer some verisimilitude. But come on--you find out who's been committing crimes in a certain neighborhood, and you kill them and take their head to the authorities? That's an obvious mix between the Skinner Murders and Neb's Head. I guess my imagination must have been on holiday when I came up with this fake quest.
D) Apparently, the designers had originally given Suna Seni some more background: She was an old lover of Valygar's, but now works for a Mage (either Irenicus, Lavok, or most likely Sion) who has her enspelled with a geas. The only hint of this remaining in the game is that if you have Valygar and Cernd in your party, they will have a banter, in which Valygar states that: "I'll not let it be, Cernd. I eagerly tread every step that brings me closer to that foul Mage! ....he killed her as if her life was not worth a spit ....He killed Suna! There is nothing else to know!" I see some serious MOD potential here.
E) Talk to the Peasants in the Slums District--you may need to do a lot of talking, but eventually you'll get comments such as: "All those clerics that have gone and disappeared are in the bloody circus, that's what I think." "'Tis a sad thing that Guardian Herolde has gone missin'. I heard tha' all they found was 'is helmet. It doesn't seem that a Priest of Helm would just wander off, does it?" There's also a Commoner in Waukeen's Promenade who says, "My husband told me that several clerics have gone missing lately. How awful!"

14. How many scrolls of Freedom can you buy/steal from the Duergar Encampment in Chapter 5?
a) 0
b) 1
c) 3
d) 4
e) 5 Some of you reported that the Duergar carry 4 scrolls of Freedom in their stock, others stated that they only have 1. Well, you're both correct--but not *as* correct as those who knew that you can get 5 Freedom scrolls out of them. What I was testing you for in this question was whether you knew that the Duergar have two completely separate Inventories, depending on when you talk to them. Try it in your next game: Go shopping *before* you go see Adalon--the Duergar have 4 Scrolls for sale (along with a bunch of other stuff). Now come back after you've been turned into Drow--they only have 1 scroll in stock. (They're either racists, or they only give you the "Big Store" the very first time you talk to them: Going shopping after the Drow Illusion has been removed still gets you the "Drow Store.")

15. How many Female Wizards can you have in your party at the same time? Name them.
A: Five: The PC, Nalia, Imoen, Aerie, and Edwina.

16. In what map area can you find *TWO* Male Halflings, both named Stanet?
A: The Bridge District. One in the north end, one in the south (during the day, that is).

17. How many quests, in Chapters 1-3, can earn you a boost to your Reputation? List as many individual Rep. points as you can.
A: Eleven. Circus Tent, Copper Coronet, Slave Ship, Return Neb's Head, Solve Skinner murders, Druids/Djinni, Trademeet Cemetery, Skin Dancer, Save Imnesvale, Unseeing Eye, Fallen Paladins. One Reputation point each. It may be possible to earn additional Rep points when doing the Umar Hills quests as a Ranger, or killing Firkraag as a Paladin, but I disregarded these.

18. From whom do you get the "There's a WHAT in their chicken??" quest?
A: Jeb, a villager in the Umar Hills, standing north of the Umar Inn, close to the ford.

19. The Council of Six is a powerful governing body; they have even legislated an entire map area in Athkatla where it *NEVER* rains. Where?
A: You're in the Docks District, in the middle of a torrential downpour. It's depressing. Edwin's robes are soaked, and Minsc is complaining yet again about his armor chafe. What to do? Why not stroll on over to Waukeen's Promenade? Good Day, Sunshine! not only has the rain stopped, but the good weather will continue after you return to the Docks--or anywhere else in Athkatla. I even spent a few days Resting in Waukeen's, and never saw a single drop of rain.

20. How many enchanted Bucklers are there in the game?
A: Only one, a pathetic Buckler+1 in Mae'Var's Guildhall. They even took Kiel's Buckler (from ToSC) out of the game! I'm writing my Congressman about this.

21. Where in the game can you always find a single pile of exactly 666 gold pieces?
A: In the safe, upstairs in the Guarded Compound. Those of you who answered with "The container in the Power Core of the Planar Sphere" got 3 out of 4 on this question: That container holds *6666* gp.

22. List all NPCs of True Neutral alignment.
A: Jaheira, Cernd, and Yoshimo.

23. List all of the NPCs (if any) who can naturally use the Crom Faeyr, but require magical aid to use the Hammer of Thunderbolts.
A: Valygar, Viconia, Aerie, Haer'Dalis, Mazzy, Keldorn, and Yoshimo. It's odd that the HoT requires a Strength of 18 to lift it, while the Crom has only the requirement of a normal Warhammer--9 Str. Even Jan can use the Crom without a Str booster (once he gets Use Any Item, that is), but there's a total of 7 NPCs who can't use the Hammer of Thunderbolts without help. It's true that you need to Dual-class Yoshimo in order to give him the Crom Faeyr, but that still doesn't count as "requiring magical aid."

Q: What's Jan Jansen's middle name?
A: Jakobar. Talk to Kylie outside the Jansen home with Jan in the party.

25. ToB contains references to two famous works of 19th-century literature. The more obvious one is American and worth 4 points, while the deeper one is of European origin and worth 10 points. Identify and explain.
A: The American work is "Oh, Captain, My Captain!" by Walt Whitman, published in 1900--the very squeaking end of the 19th Century. The reference is made by the Spectator Beholder in Sendai's Enclave, as he continues his quest to be the funniest damn NPC in the game.
The European work is Faust, in which the title character sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for wealth and power. The German version was completed (in two parts) in 1808 and 1832 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who adapted it from the English play Doctor Faustus, written in 1588 by Christopher Marlowe.
And That's why it was worth TEN POINTS!!!

Great job, Everybody!

Aww, NOOOO! I ran through everything I could remember doing in ToB in my head, and I thought of this, and didn't even recognise it! This question drove me nutz! AND I always thought a name like 'Marlowe' didn't fit with Forgotten Realms-style naming... I'm an idiot! Someone cut off my head, PLEASE!
