A quote that encompasses your essence?

I've got many lines for living, like quotes from people or things like the Bible that dictate how I live my life or my philosophies or beliefs..
But if there's one quote that really sums up how I feel and why I do things, its from "the Beach" (read the book, seen the movie)..
Goes something like..
"I still search for paradise. But now I know that its not a place you can search for. Its how you feel for a moment in your life, and when you find that moment, it lasts forever"

I sorta believe that everyone's looking for something, that the ultimate desire for paradise is what drives every human being, whether they know it or not. Everyone's paradise is different, but its what we all search for.

For those who have not read the book, go do so! Its by Alex Garland about a backpacker in Thailand, searching for that elusive perfect place. He finds such a place, a secret beach, with a whole colony of like-minded travellers also there, but in the end he realises that every place, even the most sacred, can be a dream turned nightmare. At the end of the book/movie, after his experience with the Beach, he realises that its not about where he is, but how he feels, and thats what remains in his heart the most.

Oh sorry for the rant..I suddenly realise I might have gone OT..

The quote in my sig is from a longer passage by Nelson Mandela which I'm not about to type up as it's rather lengthy. However, I do believe it has more then a ring of truth to it.

As for something that defines my essense, I'd refer you to this:

Very good quote Fljotsdale...made my stomach feel all funny...I love that poem!
Also love Mouse's T.S. Eliot quote which he has in his sig on Mithril Hall:

But to actually find a quote I live by or that sums me up in some way...I'd have to think about it much longer.

Is a part of a song OK? In that case I'd choose: "Do you have the time, to listen to me whine, about nothing and everything all at once?"
I chose that one, cos the title of the song ( Basket Case) refers to me totally.. Sometimes I'm a complete nutball, and can be very irritating, talking about nonsense non-stop.. So that's the reason for that one.
No songs allowed? Then I'll chose: "Losing isn't bad, as long as you win"
I don't know where it comes from, but I'm pretty much a sports freak, and I don't like losing!!
