I'm so utterly bored of this topic that all I can say is that I'm glad I'm not that opinionated on anything. I really am beyond all manner of caring. Have a nice day

Illogical to you, but it makes perfect sense to me, which is all that matters given that it is my game. I will say that some of your comments are harsh and uncalled for. It's no real skin off my nose, but I hope that other members don't feel antagonized by any future issues you may discuss with them.

Keep it civil people, and Arledrian, Lemmy has done nothing wrong. Attack the idea, not the person.

And as for the topic itself, Alderian, using the sword icon to attack a non-hostile character is a valid action, and was fully intended to be that way by the devs. If they didn't want you to attack non-hostile characters, they would have coded the game so that you could not attack them, like in Diablo.

Do i feel bad about killing drizzt, yes i suppose.
I feel a little better when i put on defender raising my armor class and killing everything in its path, hey who cares about drizzt, he doesnt kill sarevok I do so he would be doomed anyway

Oh, how I love this forum sometimes. This reminds me of a situation I find myself in on a regular basis when playing BG2: you're fighting a group of people, and the blue-neutral person who got you into the mess is standing off to the side, safe, sound, and probably scratching.

It doesn't matter who finishes it, gentlemen. (Ladies?) The person who started it really doesn't care anymore.

As far as killing Drizzt, I say... to each his own. I myself have done it, if for nothing else just for the experience in doing it. Sure he is a hero in one of the other games, but if your evil that can technically be roleplaying. I myself love to role-play, can't get enough of it. While this isn't supposed to be exactly like a D&D game, I still give my character his own attitude, and his own ideals. One reason I became hell-bent to kill Drizzt was that he sounded really snotty. I mean saying something to the affect of, "Does my name incite wonder and awe in you?" is pretty tacky. I grade Drizzt in this game a 'O' for Ostentatious.

This has nothing to do with the argument about killing drizzt, but just so you know; an easier way to waste that drow would be to take the potions that the vendor sells you in the nashkel fairgrounds (the ones that set one stat to 25, while setting another to 3); take the one that sets your str to 25, give it to your thief who has a shortsword and backstab drizzt (this would be imoen in my party). 2 out of 3 times this will kill drizzt, and it will chunk him on a critical - this is due to a bug on how bg1 calculates backstab damage (they take into account the damage bonus from str when adding the multiplier). This technique also works on Sarevok

First of all, I like Drizzt. And although I think I should roleplay, I kill him every time I get here (whether I'm paladin or chaotic evil dwarven fighter). But it's not cheating. As Legolas said - they would make him invincible if they didn't want you to kill him. I think that Drizzt was resurrected (by Malchor or some of his party members) and comes back in BG II where you can tell him that you already killed him.

Taran, you've got the point about the fact that in BG II you appear in a dungeon with Imoen, Minsc and Jaheira but you could've finished BG I with some other NPC's or even alone. BTW, I'd choose Defender if I was you.

As for Byrd's question, I assume you haven't played pnp games like this. If you did you would know that you receive a penalty when shooting 'over' someone.
