Oops...he should have listened...

Actually, the Dwarf and his axe is pretty much the stereotype. It does annoy the heck out of me that the game does not implement weapon sizes like in 3rd edition (I gave Mazzy a halberd in one of my games, just to rub it in). Technically, a halfling should not be able to use a katana (at least one-handed; two-handed they should). In fact, what are all of these katanas doing floating around the equivalent of Europe? However, since the game lets you get away with it, that's your choice.

I don't consider any race to be all that overpowered. However, dwarves and half-orcs definitely have an advantage as warrior types (due to ability bonuses), while halflings have a disadvantage due to low strength.

In other words, play the character you want to play. If you want to play a halfling wizard slayer, go for it. Sure, the dwarf just "fits" from a roleplaying perspective (in fact, I'm tempted to play one after reading on this post), but it's your character.

The halfling can make up for lack of strength with Dexterity. Or, at least that's how I make my halflings.

Usually, I try to get a 19 dex, and at least strength enough to wear chainmail.

And a Halfing should use a Katana two-handed

EDIT: Not that I'm arguing here. Just generally discussing.

Well, I'd say in comparison to other forums, he's not as Trash-Talking as the people I've met...

Unfortunately, this is not a Highschool Sports Forum, which makes such comparisons invalid.

You should. They're overlooked, except if you have ToB. Then there's a ToB-only ability that negates most of the drawbacks of the Wizard Slayer kit without nerfing any of the perks. (Try soloing a Wizard Slayer without ToB installed. It's fun. )

Only if you dualclass. The Warrior HLAs are pretty okay for a Wizard Slayer, but do little to negate his disadvantages. The only real tweak ToB did, is to allow them to consume healing potions.
which ability youre referring to? Thief's use any item?
Yep, that's the one he's referring to. I wouldn't use it, even if I dualclassed. Just like I wouldn't use it if I did kensai/thief to wear armor. The idea behind the wizard slayer is that they do not WANT to use the restricted magical gear, not that they are unable to use it (the game can't control this any other way but to restrict its use). Thus, you are stepping WAY out of character by circumventing the disadvantages with UAI.

Beside, I stated that I wanted to do a DWARVEN wizard slayer, which can't dual class (and can't have kits if they multiclass). Thus, I would play him as a single class fighter with the wizard slayer kit. I would play him as part of a party, though, just for the heck of it.
