Look at it as taking him out of his misery, you can't let him walk the streets again, or do you think he can one day ? If you knew what he did in the past, would you be willing to live nextdoor to him ?

I am not A qualified psychiatrist therefore I cannot comment with any reasonable degree of accuracy, but It well might be possible to cure him.
What makes you think he Can't be cured?

OMG! You mean we might actually have to pay Money? to keep some person alive?
Well, if you take that argument to its logical conclusion, why not just euthanise all people who are mentally ill/Criminals
I mean It’ll save us cash right?
And that’s more important that helping lost souls/criminals right?

If that was my grandmother I would not be fit to pass any judgement upon this situation,
Since emotion clouds rational thought upon matters such as these.

Are you therefore implying that there is a distinct Difference that sets people who will commit crimes such as this out from normal people?
Since taken to its logical conclusion, that would lead to “preventative detention” as in locking people up for no other reason than you think they _Might_ commit a crime.
you took the words right out of my mouth, Dramnek

Are you a qualified psychiatrist, johnny? if not, how can you say whether or not he can be cured? that is NOT for us to judge

even if I had any grandparents left, I wouldn't expect them to be killed. Maybe I'd WANT that, but that would be a purely emotional thing, not a sensible one

To want everyone you think is sick to be killed is, in itself, quite abhorrent

I'm not a psychologist either Dram, but i just don't have the patience that you have on matters like this. And don't you think that comparing a common thief to a butcher like this goes a bit far ? And i'm not trying to be Ebenezer Scrooge here, i just don't think this guy is worth the taxpayers money. Same thing goes for guys like Charles Manson. What's the use of keeping him in a cage ? So that we can all be reminded what an evil character he is ? All it takes is one bullet and the world is rid of another maniac.
Im no qualified psychiatrist either, but I do know that *no* psychiatrist could *ever* gaurantee that he woudnt repeat his crime. Suppose he goes into mental hospital, is released after some years supposedly *cured*, and then turns out not to be. This has happened before. Plus in this country you cant force someone to accept treatment.

I dont know about you, but to me the perfectly normal, innocent lives he could end are worth far more than this persons.

Because

Because The National Socialist Regime in Germany took that path,
See the Results woven into the history of Mankind.
It’s a slippery slope that leads to the devaluation of human life,
When you can kill a “useless burden” to the country, you de-humanize that person and make them worth less than “better” humans,
That always leads down the path of organised mass murder; see what The National Socialists did in Germany,
They killed tens of thousands people who were mentally ill, do you really want that?

Do you notice the word “Could”?
I could go out a kill someone right now If I felt like it,
You could, most people could,
Shall we kill\detain anyone who has the potential for murder?
Because that’s just about all of us. \
