And in a nice turn of events, the muslim world has said enough is enough. Details here, but this cleric has been muzzled. Specifically...

1. He's taking back what he said, claiming it refers only to extramarital affairs (although the text bit that I read didn't say that) and also claiming a bad translation of his words.

Well, I can't read Arabic, so I'll leave that to others. I did read the text of his sermon here... I'd have to do more research to see if he can truly claim to be misquoted. At least in my mind...

2. The largest muslim organization in Oz has ban him from preaching at its mosque (where he delivered that sermon) for the next two to three months

3. He's been called on his words by at least two other muslim organizations as well.

Apparently, backlash can work both ways. Glad to see it.

But, most of the western culture seems to be built on things like democracy, human rights and free speech. Meaning that they are exaclty as good as people as you are, they can say things that you don't like, and they can actively work to change the western culture.
