*Cringes And Shrieks*

ARRGH! The Truth, It Hurts So Much!!!

Seriously Tho, About The Duck Billed Pick Axe, We Were Clearing Out The Garage Yesterday, And We Found A Pickaxe. I Asked My Dad Why We Had It And Where It Was From, And He Told Me That Last Year, There Were Some Workers At The Top Of Our Road... He Said That They Left It And He'd "Borrowed" It!!! I believe the proper term would be "Dwarf Chucking".

Halberds would be verry effective when used in the second rank of a skirmish line. The reach of a spear with the mass to take out a combatant even if they were wearing a helm. A thunk on the head with even an iron tipped spear won't do too much damage... but to get whacked with a halbard on the noggin, that would ring your bell for sure.

One on one I think it's not a good weapon. Too easy to get inside of... same with spear.

I'd still prefer a good curved scythe to a halberd.

Halberds are too unwieldy for general combat. I know in BG2 etc they just show the character swinging them at people, but in reality - you get one swing and then the bad guys inside your blade, probably disembowling you with a sword.

So always carry a dagger if your foolish enough to use a halberd. And keep it handy.

For general close work I would recomend a short sword, sharp point and on the forward edge. Try and get it through weak points in the armour, bashing against a breatplate is likley to break your sword.

Of course, if your actualy planning on hacking at someone with a sword for real, you really shoudnt be reading this thread.

scythes are OK, if you can handle one and dont have anybody you dont want to kill nearby.
