Why did you decide to make a new viewport/wall size for Silver Blades?

Because I could.
![]() Seriously, though, I hate the current viewport. It's the wrong shape. FRUA's viewport was a square. But when DC was starting out, instead of looking at the files to determine how DC would work, they went from screenshots. These screenshots showed the viewport ast being a rectangle b/c FRUA was made for 320x200, not 320x240 which is the ratio used by windows. I also wanted big pictrues, but not what I felt was a lot of wasted space in the 1024x768 resolution. (This could have been avoided by making the font twice as big, but really, that didn't seem a very elegant answer.) So, I decided to use the 1024x768 small pic size in the 800x600 shell. Why? This way I only need to create new art and a new wall template, not figure out new wall offsets. This is the advantage of tall walls (and the related extended and hyper walls) in the the offsets are only for the x-axis (width) so making the viewport from a tall rectangle into a square would not render them obsolete. I figured why not make up my own layout while I was at it. As there was no art available for 800x600 and only a couple of walls available for 1024x768, which I had made, I was pretty much in the boat of making all the non-combat art for this project from the moment I decided to move away from 640x480, so I might as well go all the way. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hmm - this is all quite mind-boggling... Guess I will have to play your design to understand what you did better.

It will make more sense when you see it.
