Vorpal means that. All vorpal weapons have a chance to do a one-hit kill.

Cool I never knew what that meant, thanks for the information. I'm sure you found that ability very useful when soloing your sorcerer. I'm looking forward to getting my parties mage these high level abilites now.

Personally [when choosing Level 9 spells], I would go with CC and Planetar.
Doesn't Summon Planetar count as a Level 10 spell, and therefore leave you free to choose an actual Level 9 spell, such as Wish?

Six, ALL the 10th level spells (the Mage's High Level Ability picks, except the extra spells) are actually considered as a 9th level spells - they take level 9 slots! How rude!
Thus, if at level 18 i choose Timestop as a spell, and Improved Alacrity (assuming sorcerer, but also true for mages) as an Ability, and i have 3 casting of level 9 per day, and i'll cast Timestop, i will be able to cast two more Timestops or Improved Alarcrity.
Simple, eh?

The Sorcerer really shines when it comes to level 9-10 spells, as he has access to 6 of any combination at any time. Factor in Project Image and you can spam a LOT of level 9-10 spells.

Want 6 Dragon's Breath? Sure! 3 sets of Time Stop plus Improved Alacrity? No problem! Fear the unleashed power.

Or, even better, use cheese!
Do you want the ultimate firepower?
Cast Chain, fill it with 3 Images, and set condition to Helpless.
Now, cast Project Image, which will trigger the Chain!
Tada!! Now you have 4 Images, which all can cast 5 level 9 spells, which means... 4*5... 20 Planetars!

Just a little note. Only the first copy will have your equipment. The rest will be naked, and cast excruciatingly slow.

But speed doesn't really matter here.
You summon before the fight...
Maybe some will unsummon during the battle, but it's still many Planetars...
