IC- Skye leaned back in her chair near the old man, holding a goblet of elven wine. Noticing that Mistral was looking at her, she smiled in her direction. 'Smart move,' Skye thought to herself. 'Let the others talk, and observe. Perhaps I shall do that too...' Both of the girls remained silent, while the men veheminitely (sp?) tried to prove their strength of will to the old man, who just continued to smile condensendingly(sp?). Although he did look old, under Skye's scruntization(sp?) she realised that the old man's eyes were still very sharp and calculating, with no trace of the smile that he wore on his face. 'Hm, interesting...' Skye thought to herself.

With a great sigh, Aristotle responded in a defeated gesture "You warm blooded adventurers just never know where your limits lie, do you? Well " he smirked "you just reached one here"

"The Beast Within..." his eyes fixed on the group, from one to another "We all are born with them. They grow with us as we grow, though we never conciously know their existence. You cannot touch them, but they can touch you, in ways beyond your imagination could carry." He voices trailed off to a whisper, and leaned close to the group "We are the creation of the One Above. Those who heed to his words are blessed by His gentle caressing and live with light, while those who seek to control the Beast Within were cursed as cast out, doomed to lure in the darkness. Mercilessly." He bitted every word as he spoke "For darkness is the escape, there are infinity wisdom lie beyond where the light of heaven could reach. The Chronicle of Caine behold the secret before your very eyes, and those who are destined into the dark shall gain understandings of the most unimaginable. This is the control of the Beast Within, and this is the Curse."

After that, the elder remained silence, let the group comprehend his omnious words...

OOC>>> Okay, everyone... bad news I'll be at home over the next 2 days, which means extremely poor Internet connections. (I've to reboot my PC about 15 times on average on off-peak hours, and can't even get in during peak ones)

It'll be a miracle if I can even get into the Online RPG main page, so there's a very low chance of me posting in any of the threads. If the adventure does take off, please feel free to drag my character along. I will try to get in, but I fear that my PC will crash if I try too hard

Skye broke her silence. "I have a question..." she said slowly. "Would this "beast link" that you speak of be anything like that between of Lyulfe, my song dragon partner, and I? We share a phsychic and mental bond, and if either of us are killed, the other would most likely die too. Is this somewhat like what you speak of, or is it something even deeper?" Skye stopped, thoughtfully.

"When you are angered" the elder responded "Is the anger you? When you are terrified," he continued "Is the fear you?"

After that, he sat quietly, await you to understand the meaning.

She begins to ponder over the last words of the old man ~When I am angry... is the anger me? ~ A furrow forms on her brows ~ And when I am fearful... is the fear me? ~ Suddenly, she begins to question her own wisdom, wondering if she is up to the quest ahead. Chewing her lips, she tries to fend off the self-doubt as well as she can ~ Let's see... when I am angry or fearful, it is usually due to some event occurring to disturb my inner peace. ~ So far, so good... ~ And these events are usually beyond my control, meaning that they arise from extenuating circumstances, such as people who have different values or beliefs from my own. ~ Her eyes begin to blink, hoping to see some light out of this silent rambling ~ In the case of people, they thus behave in a certain way that is not in alignment with my own ideals of how things should be. Since I am not comfortable, I would feel angry or fearful, depending on the nature of the action.

Now completely absorbed in her musings ~ In the case of non-people... ~ Assuming there is such a term ~ Such as creatures or really events themselves, it would be the same.
