I would say it would definitely be better than a valk, so maybe take off a few bonuses or add some negative things. Sounds an interesting idea though.
Edit: I got a new avatar. Whoooooooo. ![]() [ 10-21-2003, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: dplax ]

How about a necromancer? he could be like a dark priest. he would have Raise Dead and Summon Undead. wears mage armor.

I think I already posted a necromancer idea in this thread.

I'd like to see a specialist.
Not really a profession, but a way to sacrifice levels for specialization bonus. You would choose to specialize in a skill (say maces) and wouldn't raise any other skills while specializing, but: for each level as a specialist you'd get a 5% Bonus in that skill (which carries over when switching back to the original profession, but is lost from the original special skill). No more than 5 specialization levels should be possible. So, after 2 specialist levels, and then switching back, a fighter would get a close combat bonus of 15% and a mace bonus of 10%. Or maybe losing only half from natural special skill, so close combat 20% and mace bonus 10%. To specialize you'd need Stat 75 in the primary controlling attribute, and 60 in the secondary. |

What about a MAGIC USER (like Mage, Bishop, Alchemist, etc.) that can also use a SWORD or BOW. I don't know, but I want a spell caster to be able to use a strong weapon (besides the staff). Maybe it takes away from the spell casters magic use or resistances (or something). Kind of like Gandalf. Not like the lesser magic users (like Rangers, Samurai, Ninjas, Valks, etc.) Just a profession that allows you to use a sword and magic at the same time (and you don't have to switch class to do so).

Mantis warrior
Where do you think those mantis gloves and boots came from, anyway? Can do extended melee without a weapon (martial arts?) Crush and stab Has search ability like a ranger (compound eyes) Limited armor and weapons (chitin shield, twig staff, ...) No thrown or bow weapons except specialty items such as spider sacs for paralyze, pheremone for insanity, etc. Maybe bows on 2nd thought, but special mantis bow (+15% damage, +1 initiative) Str = 50 Int = 50 Pie = 30 Vit = 45 Spd = 55 Sen = 55 Bonus +30 Magic? maybe but limited, perhaps alchemy, and natural water or air immunity Edit: changed bonus from 20 to 30, considering the limitations Other edit: would love to hear the voice they give him/her. Here's one that came to me as I was watching commercials for a new video game.
Time Master spellcaster Has access to spells that could be explained as manipulating time: Heal, Slow, Haste, Paralyze, etc. Maybe only robes as armor but could use swords. Maybe a special "hourglass" weapon later on. Could "reverse time" at high levels (back the game up a little, would require a save file to be contantly and automatically updated by the game.) |

What about a "animal charmer",
He cannot cast spells, but can call creatures that have special skills: - He can call big bears to help you in combat (just as summoning elementals) - He can call a huge eagle to carry you through the map - He can ask the birds to look for enemies nearby etc. To summon animals, he needs special objets (whistles, etc.) that procude the sound of the animals, then depending on his "animal charming" skill, he will summon more skilled creatures. However, maybe there are zones where no animals of certain kind exist (and therefore they cannot be summoned), etc. talking about the proposed characters, I like the "ironsmith" idea very much, at high levels, it could make the finest weapons in the game! |
