Any one but a faerie can be a blacksmith.
prerequisites-55 int, 55 str.
Has access to "enchanted blade" spells and the like.

wildspear 10-09-2003 06:19 PM

If you make a blacksmith you have to have a hammer available as a weapon.

Rezdude03 10-09-2003 07:29 PM

thats why they are good at mace and flail.

but i wanna hear YOUR ideas for new proffesions, not adding more to mine (though i appreciate the suggestions).

If blacksmith is included, there should be item durability as well. then the blacksmith can repair item that have broken.

games with durability are a bitch with that regard - arcanum and divine divinity come to mind. i'm all for realism, but only up to the point of fun.

dark priest: a rogue with the priest spellbook. no edged weapons, can use maces (cudgels, saps). has stealth, l&t, pp, and critical strike. levels as hybrid. minimums: str 50, pie 55, dex 55, spd 50. 25% bonus to l&t.

weapons master: a ninja, with no spellbook. uses any weapon, including martial arts, and any armour. has stealth and critical strike, but no l&t or pp, and gets ranged criticals from ranged skill applied to both thrown and bows. levels as bishop/ninja. 25% bonus to both close and ranged. minimums: str 55, int 50, dex 55, spd 50, sen 50.

shaman: uses priest and mage spellbooks. levels as hybrid, gains spells as a pure caster (ie from level 1). uses armor and weapons as a priest. 10% bonus to both spellbooks. minimums: int 60, pie 55, dex 55.

Bionic:

A mix of gadgeteer and psionic, with some ninja possible.

Healing and some gadgeteer ability. Can make Psi weapons. Starts with a modern melee weapon that can be improved with levs. Highest may be a *light sword*. Ability for ranged. Strength low, Int high, Dex med, Sense high, Speed med/high, Vit med, Piety low. Stealth OK. Limited armor.

On the side: Sultan is right about repairing armor, eating, finding plants and discovering what they cure when mixed. Too tedious. We want it complex but not tedious.

Edit: added last thoughts.

Druid: if you had him animals if not evil would not attack you. Would get nature related spells from every spellbook. (web, whipping rocks, ...). Special ability morph into an animal: would get stronger and stronger animals with each level.

Necromancer: special ability: able to raise an enemy who is lower level than him to fight for the party for the duration of a fight. Can control undead who are of lesser level than him.

Specialized fihter: starts with higher strength, speed, dexterity and vitality, and one skill realm could also be boosted. No mana recovery, can't use non-armor, non-weapon items.

Master Knight (like a Jedi Knight):

1. Sword
2. Martial Arts
3. Stealth
4. Psionic Spell Book (the Force)
5. Immune to Mental
6. Modern Weapon
7. Auto Search (like the Ranger)

Senses high, Speed high, Strength medium, Dexterity high, Intelligence really high, Vitality medium, Piety high.

Of course the best sword for him would be the *light sword* (light saber). His secondary weapon would be a blaster and powerpacks (modern weapon). The psionic book would give him mental spells (ex. charm and mind blast). Also would need high mythology, for determining monsters. Auto search would give another profession (besides the Ranger) the ability to automatically find hidden items without turning on search.

Any class can be a Master Knight. But some would receive penalties.
