1. Defeat a powerful enemy to collect Item A. Do not give Item A to the person who was originally looking for it, or even leave Item A to be buried, as is that person's new intention. Do not even take Item A and sell it. 2. Defeat another (less) powerful enemy to collect Item B. Do not give Item B to the people who asked you to find it--and who will be left unsatisfied for eternity if you do not. 3. Go to Person C, who has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Items A or B, or the places where you found them. 4. Despite the fact that there isn't even the merest inkling of a hint or connection, give Items A and B to Person C, who doesn't even say anything when you do it. 5. Recieve Item D, which has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Items A or B, the places where you found them, or Person C or the place where you found him. 6. Take a moment to ponder the full glory of Item D, a tool so worthless that the only proposed "use" for it is the most inefficient means of healing in the entire BG saga. How can anyone think that is "neat?" If this so-called 'Easter Egg' had been found by somebody actually playing the game, I might feel differently, but it wasn't--it couldn't have been--it was found by somebody in the pre-Gatekeeper days cracking open the files, seeing The Vampire's Revenge in there, saying, "Hey, weird. It obviously sucks, but I wonder where you get it?" and running through the scripts until they found one that mentioned the item. People don't mention this item on the forums because they think it's "neat." They mention it because there is a strong human desire to share apocryphal data and thus seem well-informed and worthy of respect, even if the information dispensed is utterly useless, or even, as in this case, something that I feel the world would be better off not knowing.
much like the golden/silver pantaloon escapade that spans from BG1 to BG2 to ToB.
At least there are two (that I know of) extremely obscure hints in the game that allude to the Pantaloon quest, and the item you get is at least not useless.

The Pantaloons are justified because they're just so silly. So you at least have a reason to obtain them, if not to carry them from one game to another. And the items do have some relation to one another, and to where you finally take them. I could certainly do without the final item, but hey, it's fun to play with.

I've played with the item before, but I first chose to disable the graphics it provided using IEEP. I couldn't stand it...
