Memnoch, enlighten me. How was the new cloak different than the old. I never use the damned thing, hate the optical effect. Plus, is it different in SoA if you have ToB installed?

Well in SoA the cloak reflects all damaging spells back towards the caster, and the graphic is a little blue/white sparkling circle around the feet of the char wearing it, in ToB though it is changed to just absorbing the spells and is the graphic of spell trap

The old effect was a Spell Deflection effect and graphic (a shining disk around the feet of the character), which most players thought was extremely overpowered (you could walk through a beholder lair and they'd all kill themselves without you lifting a finger).

The new effect is a Spell Trap effect that absorbs magical damage rather than deflects it. It's better balanced, but unfortunately comes with the Spell Trap graphic (which is a glowing webbed sphere which considerably obscures the character). This is the case as long as you have ToB installed - whether or not you are in SoA or ToB.

Yay, my stepson did it. I'm going to play the game and see how it works. Thanks, Memnoch.

Dude, I don't know what you're talking about, but I have the ToB version of the Cloak, and it's an insanely overpowered item as it is. I'm in the Underdark now, and my 14th-level Undead Hunter, with Saving Throws of 0 or lower and the Cloak of Mirroring, just waltzed through that Beholder hive (see Memnoch's last post) BY HERSELF. She got Slowed a lot, but the only thing that gave me ANY difficulty at all was the Elder Orb who casts Imprisonment (had to have the rest of the party come & helf kill him). Talk about ridiculous. I had her awaken that Lich and then just stand there, laughing, while the Lich exhausted her spells and tried to fight hand-to-hand. If immunity like that isn't enough for you, I don't know what would be.

Whups! I keep forgetting to mention my favorite cloak... sewer cloak. +1 ac and shapechanging? WOW! This is almost a must have for soloing... Well, not really, but its nice if you are soloing with a fighter class...

Of course, the bug in which my berserker with Impaler was stabing while in jelly form... lol, it was funny having the blob of mustard jelly doing fair damage to the Adamantite golem while IT got a turn of doing no damage... heh heh heh... Erm, the bug is not a good thing though. I like all the forms in the cloak though.

If you are dual wielding, there is nothing better then monotelo's cloak that cespenar puts together for you. Even my assassin is hitting everything.

Are you kidding!? wow... I found that my 5 attack wonder lacked a reasonable THACO with just about everything... Of course, the weapons weren't very highly enchanted, but oh well. Whats your THACO btw?

Hate to nitpick, but I think you meant Spell Turning. Spell Deflection's graphic is the white wiffle ball too.

Yep... thats definately nitpicky...... doe sne1 know y they changed the spell graphic????? I can understand y they changed the actual item.... but I like 2 b able to c my characters animation.... So that really annoyed me when I installed ToB 4 the 1st time.. That was probably the worst thing about ToB
