I havn't seen any good longbows either. Where is this taralash, and what so special about it

Heartseeker is a devastating long bow. My archer uses it and I think his THAC0 is something like -16

Slaughter Margin(Bereserker) used Crom Faeyr for most things - those needing more powerful weapons to damage got a +5/+6weapons up their asses - Korgan used the Axe of Unyielding I believe

John Lennon's group - Mazzy used Answerer and that flaming +5 thingy Sword of Angurvadal

Lord Raptor uses Crom Faeyr Runehammer and Celestial Fury (will get Hindo's Doom later) - only uses Runehammer againstlevel drainers

Sarevok uses Psion's Blade-will get upgraded Sword of Grief later

you can find taralash on the ...5th?... level of watcher's keep, looted from the huntress

Who uses longbows? lol they smell bad. lol

Use shortbows. Their are 2 short bows that are not exceeded by any longbow in the game. The Gesen Bow, and Tuigan Bow. Gesen Bow with actual arrows I mean. lol

Electric AND arrow damage. Better than 2 extra speed and +1 damage. lol

For pure raw damage, go for the Strongarm Longbow. Surprisingly, very few people seem to use it... they must have been sidetracked by the 'wow' THACO bonus of the Heartseeker.

Remember, if you are using an Archer, that one extra THACO bonus Heartseeker gives you over Strongarm is neligible. The extra damage that Strongarm gives you though, is priceless.

I only keep Gesen's Bow because it is the bow-type weapon that can fire +4 enchanted arrows, but the rate of fire is soooo slow.

I also keep Tansheron Bow for its' rapid fire barrage of +3 enchanted phantom arrows. If I am faced with an Admantine Golem, I would rather use the Tansheron Bow than the Gesen's Bow, because my goodness, it is so much faster.

I dont think you guys are giving enough play to The Answerer sword. Its got to be the most powerful weapon in the game if you look at the big picture and not just the individual weapons effects. Its a must for any boss battle. With every hit the opponent loses 2 points from their Armor class, and 15 % of any magic resitance. With each hit...no save. This weapon in the hands of a skilled fighter with a thaco of say-9 or better, with 4 or 5 attacks per round, makes every other weapon in the party devestatingly more effective. Those impossible opponents go from -4 AC to a wide open 4 ac, and lose all their spell resistance in a single round, so it then becomes a free for all in round two, where even your sucky fighters are getting in on the beat down and having all their attacks hit. Its kind of slow, but with 5 attacks in a round, speed doesnt really matter...you dont use longswords for spell disruption anyways. I think this sword is why I was able to kill all the bosses in TOB so easily. The tandem of the answerer and Gram the sword of grief is impossible to resist.
