Xen, if you are going to quote somebody, it would be nice to state who the original poster is. What you are doing is plagarism, and it is not very nice to do that.

This is not the first time I have seen you do it too, but this has gone too far. It has to stop.

Borrowed wisdom remains wisdom, but some kudos are in place, yes.

Thanks, Dundee. I feel like saying that sometimes myself. I'm glad you've noticed.

I'm almost finished SoA for the first time (also my first AD&D game!), and have never played a sorcerer. How do they learn spells? How long does it take for them to learn spells? My PC is a mage, and she does have a lot of useless spells. I also hate that she has to sleep before she can recast--such a pain!

Sorcerers learn spells at level ups. They can choose from the whole spell-book (any spell they want), without having to find the elusive scrolls. They get a certain amount of spells casted per day; IIRC, they can cast 6 spells of each level (and 4 of 9?) at max level. However, they cannot have as many spells memorized as the mage-this is offset by the fact that a mage doesn't use all spells that are scribed

Example of how spells are used:

Sorcerer can cast 6 level one spells per day. Sorcerer has MM, Chromatic Orb, Friends, Spook, Armor, and Shield etc. memorized. The Sorc can cast MM 6 times, MM twice and the Orb once, or each spell once. Then, the Sorc has to rest. The benefit: the Sorc will use the spell that will help the most in the situation; shopping? Friends. Enemy sighted? MM. Adaptability. A Mage will use the best spells first, and at the crucial moment in the battle...will be left with a Web memorized
