Die, die, whether you like it or not, during the encounter with the Corrupted Harpers in the Harper's Stronghold( after their leader questions you), the Harper Wizard will always drop a Ring of Wizardry.
Wizard PCs can take advantage of this by getting 2 Rings of Wizardry( RoW), or if they have the Item Upgrade Mod, a Sorcerian Ring + RoW. ![]() There might also be a RoP+2 among the other corpses, but I will leave it to those more familiar with this encounter to say aye or nay. |

There I go sticking my foot in my mouth again. I said 99% sure so I had a window for error. I was thinking the Baron Ployer Wizards dropped it. Well at least now I know that I should have waited longer to drop Jaheira until the Harper encounter.
*oh Jaheira honey, you're not still mad are you? Would you like to travel again for a few days? Please.*

Well, the BPMages might be the ones who drop the RoP+2. I honestly will not know, since I always persuade them to abandon Baron Ployer.

Presumably our quizzer (who mentioned SoA but not Chapter 2) is thinking of the Dragon of Pride in Hell. If you fight it (rare, most people master their pride for the elemental resistances) it dropps quite a bit of loot, notably including an RoP+2, scrolls of Time Stop and Wail, 20 arrows of dispelling (!), a robe of the evil archmagi ...

True. Although the last time I took that path with Pride, I didn't get any Arrows of Dispelling, just a scroll of Sphere of Chaos. Doh!
I don't really count items in Hell as being part of SoA--sure, they're technically part of SoA, but the things you get there are only useful in ToB. I suppose it's possible to pickpocket Terminsel and the Druid who speaks to you when you enter the Grove, but I myself have never done it. (Although I have killed Elminster in ToB, and he does indeed drop a RoP+2.)

Now when this is answered, I have another question: Who is Ercias?
Please, without utilities ![]() SoS, you said you didn't know some time ago, have you learned it in the meantime?

Six figured it out I think
![]() It is possible to pick the pocket of the Druid who greets you in the Grove. It is however, fiendishly difficult. You need mad timing skills, an oil of speed, careful party placement, and, you must try it before he makes his speech. You need over 200% in Pick Pockets to even have a chance. He also carries something else, but, I have yet to actually fish it out of his pockets so I don't know what it is yet. It is also impossible to kill him, as he vanishes instantly. I learned this with a Bard. He tried to pick pocket everybody in the game. And I mean everybody. When I finally got the message "Pick pocket failed" I knew he had something, maybe something I wanted. It took me probably close to 50 attempts before I realized, I did not have enough pick pocketing skills. Drinking PoMT is chancy, while trying to drink them right as you enter the Grove, he spawns and your chance is blown. After maybe another 20 to 30 attempts, I finally got some sort of timing down, and, in one lucky shot, happened to be in the right place at the right time with enough skill. The moment he started to spawn, I paused the game, and tried to pick his pocket. He luckily spawned right next to my Bard. I managed to filch his ring just before he spoke. In further attempts of trying to see what else he has, in a moment of pure luck, right as he was starting to walk away, I managed to try and pick pocket him again before he vanished, getting the "Pick pocket failed" message again, meaning he probably has juicier loot, but I doubt I will ever find out exactly what it is. Perhaps he carries the Druid quest items? The Root of the Problem and the Ring of Protection +2? I don't know. Perhaps the Staff of Thunder and Lightning? It makes me crazy wondering. |
