Paladins is where it's at! The Holy Smite ability really comes in handy. And so does the Turn Undead Ability.

I'm a sucker for a challenge. When BG2 came out I tried several character classes before I settled on one I really enjoyed the most. Most characters if you play them right make it through fairly easily, so I tried the then much criticized "Kensai" because he couldn't wear armor. Heh, as time went on and people worked through the paces, they found that a Kensai was a killing machine at higher levels and was perfect to dual as a mage since he couldn't wear armor. I really loved that class. But once again the Kensai, Kensai/Mage was a juggernaut of devestation when played correctly, so I decided on the other much maligned class (at that time), the Monk. Oh yeah, this guy was a real punk at first, and died at the drop of a hat. Finally, a real challenge to play. Monk was the first class that I really felt truly proud of as I finally got enough level ups to hang with the baddies. And at the higher levels a Monk is a juggernaut, but at least in this case I felt like I finally earned it.

That said, my first character in NWN was a Monk, and I was not disappointed. Just as in BG2, the sucker was a serious wimp at first, a real challenge to play. By the time you are immune to poison and disease (which in themselves make this class awesome)the game is a sweet ride. Monk requires some strategy to play, moreso in that they are not full fledged "brawlers" so you don't normally just go in bashing brains out, or you might end up with yours on the floor. And you normally aren't hauling Dalen around because you need "Tommy the thief" or "Linu the Cleric" more. Since you don't have spells, animal companions or summoned creatures to take the brunt of attacks, you rely on your stealth to sneak around, get in the first blows undetected, retreat to a more defensible position before renewing the fight. I know we can all say many great things regarding strategies and tactics and all are relevant. I just enjoy the Monk the most because they were a legitmate challenge to keep alive long enough to become a viable force.
