Because they can strip a man down to the bones in seconds!!! According to the discovery channel a lot of the indigenous people who live in the amazon won't go in the water because of them. To me,that is a huge red flag. If the locals don't want to mess with them it is a pretty safe bet that the danger is for real.
Wow! I did not know all of that! I guess that will then make this how to article obsolete!

By all means , please go swim with the piranas.I wish you the best of luck with that. While you are at it, why not try walking thru the northern end of central park around 2AM. It is no more dangerous than swimming in the amazon river.

Moreover, an individual can break, re-set, and create records! An individual can seek stardom without a team. However, a team must have stardom in order to be called great.

I have already planned my local guided swim with the piranhas for Spring 2008. There are currently 3 of 9 available slots, should I count you out?

Central Park? Blah, try Fallujah at 0300 Hrs, broken night vision, ammo black, and three wounded from an IED ambush!

Even thou NYC is very strict, my CCW goes everywhere I go. Well, except the airport. I have found American wanna-be's have a tendency to run like the wind if well practiced return fire is placed upon them.

Personally, I always thought that the canidru was nature's way of telling us to NOT swim in the Amazon. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Now, here's my question.

Let's say he perishes during the swim. Will people be clamoring all over themselves saying, "Darwin award!" If not, why not? Surely swimming the Amazon is one of the most foolhardy things one could do. It's the same thing I wondered about Steve Irwin's death. Where were the Darwin Award Shriekers then, hmm? I find the inconsistency interesting. Does stupidity on a huge scale, around cameras, mean one doesn't deserve a Darwin award, or am I just missing something?

Sorry to be off topic. But I would take a stabb at the court system and the types of punishment before handing more guns out. A few trips to a turkish prison. May swagger a few.

Excellent. However, there are NO Turkish prisons here. The ACLU would plead to the world that it is too inhumane to treat fellow people like that yada, yada. The problem does stem from the law. And the lawless do as they please.

However fearsome some might think the piranha is, I would be more concerned with crocodiles while in the slow moving areas of the river. Oh wait, he's doing it during the peak season, the river won't be moving slow. Then the Anaconda, but that's just another Hollywood casting crew as well. Guess as long as that wet suite holds him in, he'll be just fine.

Definately, those little monsters are by far the scariest thing lurking in there! Although I guess he'll be safe as long as he can hold it in

Funny how we always look to the bad outcome first, minus Felix.
